using spent substrates
    #10476750 - 06/09/09 11:50 AM (14 years, 10 months ago)

sorry if this doesnt belong in the cultivation forum, but i figured more people would have experience with this than in the 'psychadelic experience' one.

so i'm wondering, if there's a monotub thats giving out just a pathetic second flush, probably because its only one inch deep, and there's no room in the car for moving it while moving to a new house.  in terms of not wasting any of the drugs - what would you all suggest?

my friend also has 4 brf cakes finishing their second flush, and plans to make tea out of them.  However... this monotub is made out of.. you guessed it - shit

i was thinking of something along the same lines - making a sort of tea

i'm not above the idea of eating shit, because lets face it, mushrooms taste like shit anyway - and its been pasteurized etc.

-I just want to know if you guys would recommend anything (other than planting - i'm moving out of the country)

thanks

You don't want to drink cake or manure tea. Not worth it, look up threads on it. Gross. ~Pixie~

I can't believe you're actually considering eating shit to get high.

:nonono:

There's no actives in vegetative mycelium and very little in mycelium that has actually gotten gone through fruiting. At most, you'll get a buzz.

If a slight psychedelic buzz is worth eating shit, then by all means, go ahead.

ahh come on dont be so harsh on me, lol

http://www.shroomery.org/6279/Substrate-Tea

i know it can work, without a doubt the mycelium has actives in it.

what specifically is bad about it?  its not unhealthy, unsanitary, and seriously it cant taste much worse than regular shrooms.

The next result is not worth the effort, very little actives and the time would be better off starting a new grow to get some actual actives.

It's not unhealthy or unsanitary? How do you figure that eating feces is not unsanitary? :frown:

edit: I would consider eating BRF cakes to be gross, but within reason. But a manure-based substrate?? WHY

Yeah, I'd never eat my own shit let alone some horse poo. :P

But I have wanted to make some mycelium tea since I'm out of marijuana and I haven't seen any pins yet.

-.-

If you think it's worth it go for it man.
But it would suck if you ate shit and then nothing happened.
Better not tell anyone about it lol

shit is just digested grass

the reason it is unsanitary is because of the bacteria and viruses it may carry.

is that not the idea of pasteurization?

on second thought... what temperature does e. coli die at?

Would boiling for 45 minutes not kill most bacteria? Not considering it had been previously pastuerized, maybe I am wrong but I would think that a tea would be harmless to drink. Also once it is colonized can we actually call it shit anymore, it was eaten and became nutrients for mycelium to later use those nutrients to give off sporophores. It has flushed twice meaning it has been fully colonized for awhile. I dare say, make a tea.

Well, you won't soon see me eating shit to get high. If you can choke it down and get a buzz off it then more power to ya. Good luck with that. Sounds disgusting to me. Like something a desperate-for-a-buzz 14-year old might do. I'm just not that desperate to get high.

neither am i, but theres nothing wrong with a civilized, rational discussion weiging out the pro's and con's, especially seeing as I couldn't find much information with the search.

other than taste, i stand by my belief that it is no different from BRF cake tea

Simply killing the bacteria is not enough. Some bacteria create toxins during their lifetime which can't be destroyed with pasteurization or sterilization.

care to enlighten us on which bacteria?

i'm pretty sure e. coli's fine after 160, which is why everything says its fine if you cook it enough
