Touching the jars too much bad?

Just curious, but is touching the jars too much, like twice a day bad for them, contaim wise?
Im guessing so, I probably better stop. I usually wash my hands with soap beforehand.
On another note, its the third day of innoculation and 5 of my jars already have a small bit of mycelium on them. woohoo!!!!! first grow ever

Touching yourself too much is bad -- grows hair on the palms -- but touching the jars too much probably won't hurt you that much. Keep in mind that it's usually a good practice to handle them as little as possible to avoid inadvertent contamination.
Good luck...

well, people always say "it's better to put them away and forget about them"... I think exposing them to light too often isnt good (or something like that)

I checked mine almost every day the first time I grew and had no problems. As long as the holes are covered with foil or tape they should be fine. The jars slowed down near the end and it was frustrating waiting a week for the last little bit to get colonized.

You folks need to learn some patience. Grow a big-ass tub of poo/straw and then you`ll realise that checking on it every five munites will give you a tub of green or cobweb. Ultimatelly what difference is half a day going to make??? even if there is more growth it`s not going to suddenly be ready. That`s the thing with jars, you can leave them for days after full colonisation and things will only get stronger. So learn to go smoke some bud and chill. When you feel the urge just forget the urge.

I meant no harshness, I am purely trying to tell you what I`ve learnt. I also wanted to check on my jars everyday twice a day. After a while I realise nothing was changing, I left them for 3 days come check on them and wow look at that mycelium how cool
So patience is key in this hobby. Plus I had to stop looking all the time, my wife started getting jealous hohoh

The only thing I check daily is the temperature inside my incubator. About 4 times a day. Just to make sure I'm maintaining the "right" temperature range. (at least I hope it's right...I'll be posting my questions in my own thread)
Before I handle the jars, I tend to scrub up and wear gloves, rubbed with a little alcohol, better safe than sorry yeah?

take that foil off man it blocks air and you dont need tape if you got that layer of dry verm on top acts as a filter. and light does not matter a damn bit.

no problems, just dip your hands in an alcohol bath before each time handling and you'll be fine.

Incubation chambers cause problems more then anything. Unless it's really, really cold then it's 100% unnecessary. Incubators often get too hot and stale. Guess what loves to grow in hot, stale environments? Not your mushrooms, but lots of stuff that would love to contaminate your jars.
I store mine out on shelves.
Room temperature, nothing fancy. I handle them all the time to inspect.
Your jars should have some sort of filtration system. Dry vermiculite barrier, tyvek, micropore tape, polyfill etc.
No need to take special precautions when handling.

I would too if I had a setup like that! Someday, hopefully..
Also, it wouldn't hurt to spray some aerosol disinfectant in the general area before inspecting your jars. Don't spray the actual jars though. For example, if your jars are in a cabinet, spray around the cabinet before you open it up to inspect.
For the record, this would be more for you than for the jars, if you wanted to take an extra, unnecessary precaution against possible airborne contaminants to make you feel better.. lol

Every once in awhile I disinfect the area. Bleach or something and mop/wipe down everything. I need to buy a new filter for my hepa filter. I figure I can cut down on the amount of airborne crap by running it occasionally.
