Uncolonized Subsrate

My cakes have colonized 98% but on two of them their are a few parts that arent colonized. The uncolonized section of the cake looks alil darker than the other substrate I have in my second bach of jars and is the size of about a nickel. Could this be a dry spot or possibly contam??? Can I birth the jars and just cut the uncolonized part off??? I have left the jars be for a week and the hole is still their I dont know what the deal is. If anyone could help would be greatly appreciated.
Peace

The last 5% takes the most amount of time- But if you already have waited a week, fuck it, birth em.

this seems to be the part that takes the longest to colonize. You COULD birth and cut it out, but i wouldnt suggest it. Just give it another few days to see it continue growth, its probally not contamination

Are you going to case or just fruit them as cakes? If you are fruiting them as cakes I guess contamination might be a factor, otherwise I don't see why it would be.

But, wouldn't you rather wait a week and be successful on your first grow. If you are going to fruit these as cakes, you will almost undoubtedly grow green instead of shrooms. But hey, its not my grow. Good Luck.

Maybe birth them and hope the change in humidity/environment will allow growth to jump over the uncolonized spot.

could be contamination..Hard to tell. You can cut out the area completely + some..squirt some 3 percent peroxide on the cut out area. I've done this before with my oyster mushrooms as a last resort. Worked fine.
