When being arrested

When being arrested, do you guys always get threatened by the cops saying that you are fucked and gonna go to jail regardless of what you did or did not do? For instance shoplifting or possesing drugs/dealing or even speeding.
I know that cops love to throw their weight around but can someone post some stories of what happened to them, what the cops threatened you with and what was the final outcome (sentence from the judge).
As far as I understand, cops would love to lock everyone up, but in most cases they have no control over the sentence as the judge and the jury are there for that.
Any stories?

One night after drinking with some friends in the woods I got arrested on my way back to my car. They asked me a few times about I was doing but I had already decided it was best if I said nothing. Eventually they said
"If you're not going to talk to us, we'll just flip a coin. Heads we cite you and you go home. Tails we take you to county."
I don't say anything and they flip it.
"Tails, you're fucked!"
I spend the night in county jail and get charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and loitering/prowling at night. Only the loitering/prowling charge was a misdemeanor, the others were summary offenses. Public defender had loitering/prowling and public intoxication dropped in exchange for guilty plea to disorderly conduct.
Paid $300 fine and $75 court cost. Still one of the shittiest experience of my life, despite the relatively mild final outcome.

It seems that cops LOVE to fuck with younger, more "innocent" type people. I am really curious to see how cops would deal with hardcore bikies or major crime syndicates... I think they would think twice before they fucked with a hardcore bikie or the likes unless wearing a SWAT outfit...

Cops intimidate people because ...
Well I think they get off on power tripping like that, then there's the fact that people panic and do dumb shit, like believing that a confession will get you a lower sentence or that ratting somebody out is a good decision.

Yeah you are right... the only way to get a lower sentence IMO is to:
1. have a good lawyer 2. pray to God that the judge is nice on the day 3. do everything you can to make yourself out to be a good person (character references, charity work, donations, no prior offences etc)
Any others?

yeah. but not the organ doner part. but who knows. maybe. a copy of your DL will be in the court file. "being arrested" is pretty vague. i'd say it depends on the circumstances.
are the cops responding to a disturbance? did they catch you red-handed? are you part of an on-going investigation?
these criteria usually determine a cops attitude. if you're suspect, they'll good-cop/bad-cop your ass until you fuck up. then they slam-dunk you into a set of cuffs. DO NOT fall for that or any "deal" they try to hustle on you. Cops do not make deals, they make BUSTS. Attorneys make deals. if a cop threatens to flip a coin or jam you up, just name drop. hopefully, you know a cop that outranks him. if not. tell the pig that since you're not a witness to any crime, you don't see the point in answering his questions.

For the most part, cops are simply doing their job. Their job, upon arresting a person, is to ensure that the prosecutor has enough evidence to get a conviction in court. With this in mind, the cop is going to try and get you to admit to as much as he can in order to incriminate yourself. It is much easier to get a conviction if you confess.
The cops are not restricted from lying. They will tell you that it will be much harder on you if you don't talk to them. They will pretend to be your friend, sympathetic to your situation. If that doesn't work, they will become mean and "aggressive" trying to scare you into talking. They will tell you that you can go free if you just tell them what happened. Etc, etc, etc. Again, all games to get you to incriminate yourself to help the prosecution.
Even if you lie or make up excuses you are hurting yourself. Later, if they can show that you lied to them, it destroys your credibility. Remember, nothing that you say can help you. Period. Even if you tell the cop something that would help your case, your lawyer cannot question the cop with respect to this. However, if you say something innocent that hurts your case, you screw yourself, as the prosecution can question the cop about this.
Say nothing without your lawyer present. If your lawyer recommends that you speak without first securing full immunity from prosecution, get a new lawyer.

Interesting examples; shoplifting, speeding? They don't usually arrest you for speeding alone unless your going rather fast. I met someone who was arrested for speeding alone but he were doing double the speed limit in a construction zone. He was charged with a felony but it was plead down. He still lost his license for a long time. Shoplifting; don't you need to be at least 18 to participate here? Drugs, that's understandable. Some cops base an entire career on drugs and every bust no matter how minor makes them look good. They try to intimidate you when you get busted for drugs hoping they can get you to rat. It's what they're trained to do.

I am amazed every time I watch cops, which is definitely too often. people always incriminate themselves and consent to searches, it's ridiculous. most of the time If they can arrest you they will, so remain silent and beat it in the courtroom.

Thats because cops come down on EVERYONE like a tonne of bricks. Most people see that kind of abuse and accusations on TV but they are usually shocked when "nice police and the law" treat them like a heroin smuggler in Cambodia for small charges! Also cops are the biggest liars, they lie about everything they say and then when the person complies, they charge him/her and everyone else who's name was dropped! Sneaky cunts!

Yes whats upsetting is the cops are most likely to treat a bunch of teens who shop lifted just as bad as some asshole that raped a woman! In most cases anyway...
