To answer the first question i don't know what was eating my leaves but i bought some spray to keep em off they were a lot more munched than that before there just startin to come good again and to answer KBG1977's question i a pretty sure you can propogate from cuttings but you will need to layer you need to layer for all types of vines here's a link on layering: http://www.hort.purdue.edu/ext/HO-1.pdf

There are two types of layering that HBWR will benefit from:

Ground Layering: This is a method of rooting shoots while they are still attached to the parent plant. It is often used with plants whose cuttings refuse to root. Select a low-growing branch that can be bent to the ground. Make a slanting cut halfway through the branch a at a point about 12 inches from the end, and just below a joint. Then wedge is open with a pebble. Bury the cut in about 4 inches of soil and anchor it with a stone. Stake up the end of the branch so that it extends above the soil lien. Keep the soil moist, and carefully dig down to the cut every few months to check if rooting has taken place. Once rooted, the branch should be severed from the parent plant and grown like an ordinary cutting.

Air Layering: This is similar to ground layering but may be done with any branch. Select a branch from pencil size up to one inch thinck. Make a slanting cut halfway through the branch. Wedge the cut open with a matchstick and dust the cut lightly with rooting hormone. With thick branches, a ring of bark should be removed instead of cutting the branch. Surround it with a handlful of damp peat moss and enclose it with plastic wrap. Tie the wrap at both ends with wire tape. The peat moss should be kept damp. Check it frequently during the summer. In a month or two roots will form and the branch may be severed and treated like an ordinary cutting.

Hey Dr. uarewotyoueat you were exactly correct i found the smallest caterpillar hiding inside and unformed leaf just chillen and munching away  :chew:
So i killed him and used some pesticide a few weeks back but it's no good for caterpillars do you suggest anything to get rid of hungry little caterpillars like this?

You could use Bacillus thuringiensis.

"BT is a bacterium commonly found in nature as a normal resident of the soil. It comes in many forms, several of which are used as biological pest control agents on food crops, including organically grown foods. The BT variety "kurstaki" or Btk, makes a crystal which affects moth larvae or caterpillars. In order to work, the bacterium must be eaten by the caterpillar. The conditions that are needed to activate the Btk are found only in the stomach of moth and butterfly caterpillars. These needed conditions are "not" found in animals, birds, and other desirable insects such as bees, beetles, and spiders or for that matter, the human race! You can pick this product up, at any leading garden center for a nominal fee, which is a small price to pay if you want to safely rid your gardenia of these chomping pests. It comes in a powdered or a liquid form, both of which are safe and easy to use."

Hope that helps.

On a completely different note...

How long have you been growing those HBWR? They're awesome looking.

Also, would that BT bacteria work against other pests?

In all fairness, that was Denisius' idea. I would love to take credit for it, but I give credit where credit is due. Great idea Denisius!
