DMT extraction w/Mimosa Hostilis

After doing extensive research on DMT, I believe I just might be ready to experience it and enter the world of divinity it opens. Due to the fact that I recently moved to an area where psychedelics other than shrooms are EXTREMELY scarce AND I have few connections Ill need to make it myself. After reading endless teks I find myself baffled as to which one might be best for me although none seem too hard. Can any one suggest an easy, quick tek? I think Id like to use Mimosa Hostilis bark, but all the companies that specialize in entheobotanicals are extremely over priced. I REALLY need a good cheap source to find the bark. Ebay had lots of results but I dont want to get ripped off. Anyone know a good supplier? Also, how much is a good price per oz. of bark? Thanks to all for your helpful knowledge.

Nomans. But do a sodium carbonate wash of your nonpolar solvent after extracting the freebase (Noman is working on putting this step into the tek) to remove any possible traces of lye that might end up your product. It replaces the cold ammonia wash, which wash causing some people to lose product (not sure why ). The carbonate wash step can be taken from Vovin's tek for now:
Quote:
Step 7: Washing Naphtha containing DMT freebase Distilled Water Sodium Carbonate
This is a somewhat new process that is not found in many of the older tek's. This process will try to remove as many of the foreign chemicals from the naphtha solution as possible. Especially the lye that was added in a previous step. The goal here is to leave only the DMT in the naphtha so that when you evaporate you end up with pure crystals. Begin by taking about 50 ml of Distilled water and placing it into a flask and adding sodium carbonate to it. Just add a pinch to the water. It doesn't take much. You will only be using this mixture for the first wash. Do not use it for the second and third washes.
A little dab will do yah here, add only a small amount of the water/sodium carbonate solution to your naphtha. If you have 300 ml of naphtha then you want to put around 25 ml of the sodium carbonated water. Mix the 2 together and then place them in a seperatory funnel. Shake the hell out of it this is the only mixing step where the liquids separate almost immediately so no worries about too much agitation. Separate the water from the naphtha and discard the water.
For the second and third washes you want to use only distilled water nothing should be added. 25 ml per wash is sufficient. Perform the same procedure as above. You should not leave the water in the naphtha for too long. This means no sitting for hours letting it 'soak' you need to get it in and out.
Or if you want to do an acid/base, Marsofolds is reportedly consistent.
My DMT Extraction Overview if helpful if you want to mix-n'-match processes from different teks.

Is distilled water nessecary in this case, or can ordinary water be used? might be a stupid question, but i dont have access to distilled water and wanted to avoid buying something to make it.

Distilled water isn't necessary, tap water works just fine.

A bit of a thread jack, but this could help the OP and I. Is the general rule around 1% yield if you do it right (for Nomans or any other tek really)? I believe I read that on DMT Nexus at one point.
I just want to see how much bark I (and maybe the OP) should order.

Yeah, 1% is pretty common. A year or so ago, it was common for people to see yields of 2% or more, but that super-potent bark doesn't seem to be around any more. These days you can probably expect to get at least a 0.4% yield, and possibly as much as 1.5% if you get lucky.

Entropymancer, I've read over those teks in the link but I'm still confused about the freeze precipitation in regards to getting the crystals out. Would it be a good idea to refrigerate the filter to prevent melting of crystals into the filter? And also how do you react differently based on if you have snowglobes or if the crystals are stuck to the glass. If anyone could give me a better method of filtering crystals I would really appreciate it.

Can someone provide that link for the TEK that was SUPER easy? PLEASE! It only had like 4 or 5 steps!

Alright, here ya go.
All you need is a few 2000ml jars, a pound of root bark powder, lye, naptha, a turkey baster and a glass dish.
I like to use distilled water;
Combine 13 teaspoons of lye to 1000ml of water. (mix)
Add 227 grams (half pound) of rootbark to water; turn upside down and around.
Add 250-300ml of naptha; turn upside down and around over a period of a half hour to an hour and then let it sit for at least an hour or two for the naptha to separate.
After that, take the naptha off the top with a turkey baster, put it into a glass dish, put a fan on the glass dish and 3-4 hours later you should have anywhere from 5. to 1 gram of DMT.
You can repeat putting naptha back into the jar until it doesn't yield anymore; I have found that after 4-5 pulls, its pointless.
Have a good one.
Be careful and know what you're doing.

that is a great very simple tek in a nutshell. only thing i wouldn't advise is putting a fan on the dish you'll get way to much dust in your product

I don't recommend collecting your crystals by filtering. It's often messy, product sometimes melts, and you'll almost always lose some that absorbs into the filter.
Instead, I recommend freeze-precipitating in something that you'll be able to scrap easily (like a shallow glass pan or pie-plate, just be sure to cover with seran wrap or something so you don't contaminate everything in your freezer w/ naphtha fumes). When you freeze-precip, all the crystals should be stuck to the sides/bottom of the dish. Just pour off the naphtha into another jar, leaving the crystals behind. Give it a little while for the tiny amount of residual naphtha to evaporate (in front of a fan this only takes 15 minutes, or less). Then you can easily scrape up your crystals with a razor or whatever you have handy.

Thanks, however I have some questions. If I understand you correctly then there should not be any crystals floating in the baking dish, since theyl be stuck to the glass. However it seems logical to me that the same would apply to the walls of a jar therefore making using a filter imposible in the first place. Could you clear this up?

You understand correctly. The only crystals not stuck to the glass are generally a very very small amount of dust-sized crytals, which are negligible.
Normally, in order to use a filter you first have to break all the crystals off the sides to get them suspended in the naphtha.

So all I would have to do is pour off the naphtha from the dish, fan evap the dish, and scrape. Thanks, you are a genius.

Hi, thanks for the great posts! Really useful having a road-map to the entire process. Here's a question I was wondering about: Why do you think its best to grind up the root bark dry? If I had a high-powered blender like a Blendtec, it seems that I might get better particalization if water was added to the bark, creating a very finely ground slurry, and avoiding dust. Thoughts?

i'm sorry to ask a noobish question in this thread, but does it matter if one buys pre-ground bark powder, or should one always get the bark and grind themselves?
