Since I don't want to clutter up this thread with this argument, I'll just leave you with this quote from Tax lawyer Alan O. Dixler:

Quote:

Each year some misguided souls refuse to pay their federal income tax liability on the theory that the 16th Amendment was never properly ratified, or on the theory that the 16th Amendment lacks an enabling clause. Not surprisingly, neither the IRS nor the courts have exhibited much patience for that sort of thing. If, strictly for the purposes of this discussion, the 16th Amendment could be disregarded, the taxpayers making those frivolous claims would still be subject to the income tax. In the first place, income from personal services is taxable without apportionment in the absence of the 16th Amendment. Pollock specifically endorsed Springer's holding that such income could be taxed without apportionment. The second Pollock decision invalidated the entire 1894 income tax act, including its tax on personal services income, due to inseverability; but, unlike the 1894 act, the current code contains a severability provision. Also, given the teaching of Graves [i.e., Graves v. New York ex rel. O'Keefe, 306 U.S. 466 (1939)] -- that the theory that taxing income from a particular source is, in effect, taxing the source itself is untenable -- the holding in Pollock that taxing income from property is the same thing as taxing the property as such cannot be viewed as good law.

Thus, even without the Sixteenth Amendment, an income tax would still be legal.  The Sixteenth Amendment simply expanded the scope of it.

It is actually possible to die of laughter.  The earliest recorded case of this was the Greek stoic philosopher Chrysippus in the third century B.C.E.  He died of laughter after feeding his donkey wine and then watching it try to eat figs.

Ok facts:

The Horny Toad, which is actually a lizard, will squirt blood from its eye up to a meter or more if threatened.

The blue ringed octopus and cone shell (a mollusk) are considered to be some of the most deadly animals in the ocean. A bite from a blue ringed octopus can kill a full grown man within 20 minutes or less.

I read that a long time ago but recently they've added a lot more animals to that list. Rabbits (go figure) are included. Bonobos would be another prime example of this. The true "sex not war" species.

Zero was invented in India by Indian mathematicians dating as early as 5th century. They widely used it in calculations, astronomy and astrology. Zero was spread by Arabians to the Europe and there on it was spread all over. Before this, all Europeans used roman numerical which were difficult to calculate on as they were in the form of Symbols, lengthy and had limits.

Kevin Neil Whitrick :

or shyboy_17_1 (August 17, 1964 - March 21, 2007) was a British citizen and an electrical engineer.[1] Whitrick's death was highly publicized as the first live, online webcasted suicide

On the day of his death, Kevin Whitrick was in a chatroom on PalTalk and was joined by about 60 other users in a special "insult" chatroom where people "have a go at each other".[2] He punched a hole in his ceiling and placed a rope around a joist and around his neck, then stepped off a chair. Some people thought this was a prank, until his face started turning blue. Some people in the chat room egged him on while others tried desperately to find his address. A member in the room contacted the police, who arrived at the scene two minutes later. Kevin Whitrick was pronounced dead at 11:15 p.m

The peace sign is based on the semaphoric signals for the letters "N" and "D," for "Nuclear Disarmament."  The symbol was originally used by the nuclear disarmament movement in the late 1950's before being adopted by the anti-war movement during the Vietnam War.

Within the past 50 years Bull Sharks (a very aggressive species) has evolved to be able to survive in freshwater. They evolved a gland that controls salt levels within their body. They have been found 2,200 miles inland and there have been attacks on Lake Michigan and up and down the Mississippi River. Think about that next time you go swimming in a river...

A kilogram of anti-matter, colliding with a kilogram of matter, can produce energy on the order of 1.8×10^17 J. By contrast, a supernova creates around 1.2×10^44 J of energy.

So a 1-1 1kg antimatter-matter bomb can yield about 1/3 the energy of a supernova.

--------------------
"As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much: There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter."  --Max Planck

The earliest recorded psychoactive use of cannabis was among the Scythian civilization in the middle east.  They would burn the plants in a bonfire and put up a tent around the fire.  They would then slip their heads in under the tent and inhale the fumes.

I dont doubt that they are in the Mississippi but there is no way that one could get to lake Michigan. It would have to swim through all the locks dividing the lakes or somehow be able to clear niagra falls.

An action potential (think electric signal) is sent down a neuron by sodium going into the cell (building up a positive charge) and potassium going out to relieving the built up positive charge.  These action potentials occur at the nodes of ranvier until it reaches the end of the cell. At the terminal, Calcium enters allowing synaptic vesicles to fuse to the membrane and release neurotransmitter, sending the signal on to the next neuron.

The next neuron has a couple of receptors(called NMDA and AMPA) at the post synaptic terminal.  The AMPA receptor/channel allows sodium to enter when bound by neurotransmitter but the NMDA is clogged with a magnesium ion.  As more and more sodium depolarizes the cell, the magnesium ion will pop out, not only allowing sodium to come through it but calcium will enter as well.  The calcium allows for the recruitment of other AMPA channels to be placed at the post synaptic terminal, allowing the neuron to fire an action potential with less neurotransmitter.  This is called long term potentiation (LTP).  In a nut shell, this is how we strengthen our synaptic connections and LEARN.  There's much more to it (mostly the involvement of calcium) so if you want the full picture then take neurophysiology.

LTP isn't permanent.  If the cell - cell communication isn't used enough, then it will undergo Long Term Depression (LTD) and those AMPA channels will be pulled off.  It sounds harsh but it's best for your brain to be efficient.  Think of it like a computer.  If you have too many programs running, your shit will be slow.  It's impossible to have everything going at full blast.  Thus, when you administer a drug, let's say lsd, you have some programs going bananas and others are slower than typical.

I figured this would be appropriate for the thread.

Ancient Egyptians used different sections of the Eye of Rah to indicate different fractions.

I dont doubt that they are in the Mississippi but there is no way that one could get to lake Michigan. It would have to swim through all the locks dividing the lakes or somehow be able to clear niagra falls.

One word my friend: Floods. When you have a flood that gets higher than the locks or small dams, they swim right over.

So Aldous Huxley's reducing valve theory was correct, or at least on the right track?

this isnt accurate, he grew hemp used to make rope and sails,
there's no indication that he or anyone else that was growing it

He dictated that the male and female plants be separated in a letter to his gardener.

If you've read any of his more mystical writings it's also pretty obvious that he was either batshit insane, or having some kind of psychedelic experience.
