hey all--I recently took my first hunting trip and it was awesome but since I'm extremely inexperienced I want to be 100% sure on the identity of these mushrooms. we gathered these in a pasture in central FL and everything that I picked was growing out of cow dung--take a look.

We found I believe two types--the white-capped, grey-gilled ones, are these copelandia cyanescens? then the other type my fellow hunter (who has done this a few times before) says are the inkies, the darker olive-colored and very dark gills, and he seems positive they are psilocybes. any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Did you see any blue bruising on any of them? I don't see any in the pictures. Copelandia cyanescens bruises blue readily. If they don't bruise blue, they are one of the inactive Panaeolus species, such as panaeolus antillarum, etc.

the big white ones are Pan Antillarum.
the smaller ones (top photo) could be Pan Cyanescens, but only if they show blue bruising. Cyans are smaller and have darker coloring than Antillarum. Usually a greyish color with a touch of light brown on the cap.
take some better close-up photos of the smaller ones.

yeah my friend tried one of the large white ones and to no avail ... here's a cropped, higher-quality picture of the darker grey ones with the light brown tips ... they look to have blue bruising but I need to get home from work soon and check it out closer and snap a few more pics. from what I can see, I think the darker ones definitely fit the description for pan cyans ... thanks for your help

yep, you have some Pan Cyanescens. throw away the big white ones. good finds, you should take spore prints on foil

Bad advice

While there is a good chance you have some desireables in your collection, you obviously have a wide variety...and don't forget "it is far better to separate your finds in the field than in the hospital."

the dark ones were definitely pan cyans, they showed signs of blue bruising and well now I can also attest from personal experience that they're right on the money
my friend and I are thinking about going back out and hunting again tonight ... there are many areas of the pasture we did not check and we mainly looked for the big white ones we found which we now know are the inactives, rather than the smaller pan cyans that I remember we found mostly in shaded areas rather than the open fields like the antillarums

Actually "throw away the big white ones" was correct, but you're suggesting that he eat the others. First he needs to learn to separate them, then inspect for bluing. Even tho you get an eye for it, you still see that anything that looks similar should be checked for bruising.

That is correct.
