http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/6385183#Post6385183 I searched "double stacked cakes" and this thread was second to yours... there is a search bar on the top right of the screen.... I read for about ten seconds and you should put foil between the cakes. But read fahstr thread.

The obvious advantage of double stacking is the better utilization of the vertical space in your tub and to fit more cakes in. One negative is that you lose one surface area of one cake in each stack (the top of the lower cake).
Fahtster is the king of double stacking so you might want to pm him. One thing that he will tell you is to put a piece of foil between the 2 cakes to prevent all the moisture from sinking out of the top cake into the bottom cake. But I've done a few grows with double stacked half-pints and I didn't find that to be the case. My stacks with foil and stacks without foil performed just about equally. But you would definitely want to put a thick layer of verm in between the 2 cakes. You can also hold the 2 cakes together with a toothpick, as sometimes the stacks are very unstable. But again, I'll yield to Fahtster on this one.

I just finished my very first flush and now what to try double stacking my cakes. I remember watching the "Lets Grow Mushrooms" DVD and will never forget the double stacked cake which was shown in the DVD. It was beautiful and want to try and do the same!
