1 jar rice flour
1 jar water....
That's enough for six jars with verm seal...

Simple Brown Rice/Flour/Water Substrate Recipe

Makes 6 - 1/2 pint jars.

1 cup of brown rice flour

4 cups of vermiculite

1 cup of distilled water

When I use to work with 1/2 pint jars I used this recipe and I had excellent results. It's my 1-4-1 recipe:-)

So who has the right info here? Lana seems to have a good edge on it, but the other postings have different amounts of stuff and only one will work! I plan to go with Lana's recommendation.

Don't these substrates clump together when shaken after innoculation? I tried a substrate with perlite, which is similar to vermiculite, and it turned into one big clump when I shook it. Is verm really that much different?

Sorry about my reply that was mix was for 8 to 9 jars.Verm works better than perlite because verm is spongy and gives the fungus air spaces in the substrate.I take an electric egg beater to my mix ,it fluffs it up and speeds up colonization time
