A lot.
Solo in the woods is a great experience. Even better with some fungal friends.

Exactly. Sometimes a person needs that brand of solitude and insanity.

I'm planning on exploring my local mountains alot this summer alone, I've never camped out alone as of yet, but it seems like it'll be a great experience. Anyone have any issues with animals or anything?

I went into the wilderness for a night alone, for the first time this year.
Wonderful experience, next time id prefer to go multiple days, deeper into the mountains.

I used to do it a lot, and plan on more this summer. It's great in a lot of ways...you're in charge of everything and don't need to consider anyone else's needs and desires. Good way to learn about yourself and see how your thoughts develop away from other people. While I sincerely enjoy it, it does make me appreciate other people's company. I recommend it to everyone.

Hell yes...
I spent around 2 weeks of 4 weeks solo camping in Iceland. Might be doing a bit of camping in Sweden too (Backpacking, CSing, Camping EU atm)
But its almost a rule when camping, you cant shave...gives you that wild-man feeling.

i solo about half the time, not having many friends in my area who like to camp or trek.
it's a treat, and of course; a whole different experience than grouping it up.

I love to camp solo. I've only done it once or twice but it's a very invigorating feeling to be completely responsible for yourself, and have no immediate connection with the rules and structure of society.
I've been planning to go on some BLM land with nothing but a knife a plastic tarp and wool blanket to survive.

It wouldn't be too hard to do multi-day. I'm good at bowdrilling and hand drilling, and there's plenty of edibles to be found in texas. And snare traps are easy to make
The plastic tarp would be to setup a basic A frame tent shelter. I'd need some parachute chord as well. The wool blanket for warmth.
And I could make a bow drill set out of P chord and some wood I find around the area (mesquite, pine if it's in the right condition) and if I found Yucca I could make an easy hand drill set.
Survival isn't too hard if you have shelter and fire and know the local flora.
But yeah you always gotta plan for the worst.

you can't plan for the worst after you get there, so a multiday trip with next to no equiptment could easily turn into an accident followed by an emergency.
i've been into outdoorsmanship, wilderness survival and aboriginal skills for most of my life. snaring small animals is easy, if you have the luxury of setting your snares in an appropriate place and/or waiting a couple days to eat. what happens if you get a sprain your first day out and it's a chore to walk more than a few yards?
you can always make a friction fire-set, but we both know environmental conditions don't always lend themselves to getting a fire started by those methods.
my point: why go out with next to nothing, hoping you don't end up fucked, when you could just as easily go prepared, and have the self dicipline to use only the tarp, knife and blanket.
for example, i would not recommend making a multi-day outing without a container to boil water in, under any circumstances. you may not need to use it, but it might save your ass. heck; i've gone on many day hikes where the discomfort and poor morale of mild heatstroke could have been completely avoided had i brought just that one item.
be prepared foremost, and leave the bravado at home.
people [as a whole] survived just fine by primitive technologies for most of our histories, but don't forget that on an individual level, many of them failed along the way. many others where miserable at times when luck turned against them in an unfavorable setting.

Don't worry I wouldn't go doing anything considerably foolish. If I were to do something like that I'd do it in an area that I knew well, and seriously assess what is expendable and necessary. I'd definitely bring something to boil water unless there was clean water around, which would be pretty unlikely in most areas because of all them damn cows shittin and pissin in it.
Also I'd probably bring maybe a spark set in case I were unable to produce a coal from friction. But if you have a bow drill/hand drill set that you took time making into a quality set, you can bust coals on it in some rough conditions.
Sage for bow drilling Yucca for hand drilling
