T.H.E. Cambodian Project (PICS and TRIP REPORT) *COMPLETE*
    #917717 - 09/29/02 07:57 PM (21 years, 5 months ago)

Yesterday: PCed 12 1/2 pint jars with BRF/Verm substrate
Today: Inoculated 10 jars with T.H.E. Cambodian spores*

*My friend didn't punch the holes in the lids big enough for the syringe needle, so i sterilized some scissors with alcohol to make 'em big enough for the needle. Was this a "bad" idea?

Other than the setback with the holes, everything was done according to the PF-Tek. This is my second attempt at mushroom cultivation (1st try resulted in lots of bacteria and mold), hopefully this time 'round will better.

Wish me luck!

Trip Report: 3 cakes produced about 7g or 8g dried in one flush. The dried harvest was blended into some cranberry/apple juice and split evenly among three people. The come on was amazingly smooth, yet highly visual. as we progressed over the night to the sound of jazz, a new level of high was achieved. We split up to take individual journeys throughout the house, I chose the bath tub. In the bath tub i listened to some Dieselboy, i cant begin to explain the beautiful visuals. Time converged on me, past, present and future happening as a loop, no more a continuum. This is an amazing strain, easy to grow, fruit, and enjoy.

i've had to adjust the holes after sterilization... the alcohol is a good call but it never hurts to flame the scissor blades, then use the alcohol on them. Ironically.. the jars i had to adjust after sterilization haven't been the jars i've had contam problems with.

UPDATE: 10/04/02
5 of of 6 jars checked showed 2cm of mycelial growth on at least 1 injection site. The growth is VERY ryzomorphetic.
No signs of contamination.

Growth perameters:
Humidity: approx 100% (the jars are sitting in heated water)
Temp: approx 80 degrees F

UPDATE: 10/07/02
All 10 jars are showing signs of growth, very ryzomorphetic. Predict full colonization within the next 1-2 weeks. Fortunately, there are no signs of contamination. Unfortunately, the aquarium heater broke, doubt a replacement will be aquired any time soon. This may affect the growth of mycellium in a negative way.

UPDATE: 10/10/02
Most of the jars are 65-80% colonized. Expect first birthday as early as the 17th. So far, so good.
A replacement heater has been aquired. It's really small (like 10 watts or something) but it keeps the temp from falling below 70 degrees F.

Dude, first off, I love that signature, right on.

If you haven't grown out this strain before let me just tell you, YOU WILL LOVE THIS STRAIN. sorry for the caps, but damn I just tripped tonight on some cambo from Ryche Hawk, and It was one of THE best trips I've ever had. Insane. The CEV's are so tight. The colors can not even be described and the patterns just sucked me in. Good luck, and if you get them to grow, I really want you to PM me and tell me how you liked the voyage.

Lol, yeah, I already have lots of love for this strain. So far the grow has been absolutely perfect. So yeah, I'll probably have a report for you in about a week or two

UPDATE: 10/17/02
All 10 jars nearing 100% colonization. In fact, 2-3 jars are 100% colonized and will be birthed this saturday or sunday, the rest should be ready to birth a few days after that. Thusfare no contamination.

UPDATE: 11/01/02
well, as it turns out, only 4 jars are 100% colonized and all 4 are pinning, so they'll be birthed tomorrow. The colonization percentage of the remaining jars is "pathetic". lol, but yeah, still no contams, so everthing is still good, just a little slow.

UPDATE: 11/06/02
4 cakes were "dunked" (jars opened and filled with water) over night and birthed into a glass terrarium.

UPDATE: 11/09/02
1-2 cakes pining, others within days of pining. The pins have caps about 1/8th inch in diameter and 1/2 inch stems.
THIS IS GREAT! So, yeah, I'll see if i can get a trip report up once the after harvest comes.

UPDATE: 12/05/02
Ok,everything is going good, more or less. One cake had suspected contams and was opperated upon. The cake was cut roughly in half in an attempt to save the cake. The suspected contamination turned out to be bruising, as the half cake is in perfect health, and pinning! The fruiting chamber currently has 5 cakes in it, 4 of which are pinning. One cake is starting it's third flush, the other 3 are starting their first flush and already have several large mushrooms (roughly the size of a lighter in lenght with large caps) developing. Four other cakes are 100% colonized and will be dunked today or tomorrow.

Here they are...PICS!!!

Everything is going VERY well. The mushrooms in the first two pics were picked yesterday and the cakes have many pins!!! I still have 4 more cakes @ 100% waiting to be birthed. This is my first attempt (drd's second) and I am EXTREMELY happy with the results.

So I got the pics of the grow, where's the damn trip report?  Still looking nice, if you got fruits that large off of cakes, imagine what they are like off of poo spawn, yikes.
