people who used beer instead of water in the jars
    #1040428 - 11/10/02 04:08 AM (21 years, 3 months ago)

For those of you who used beer in the jars instead of water, or if you injected your substrate with beer or dunked your substrate in beer, and have successfully grown mushrooms, I was wondering it the tryptamine content in beer affected the potency at all. Has anyone tried doing some trials using mushrooms that had beer used in some shape or form, and then comparing the trip that wasn't grown with beer?

theres tryptamine in beer? is it in the yeasts used to make beer? if so than why not just develop a yeast in the first stages of fermentation under sterilized conditions and move from there? i would think that once it started producing alcohol that would sterilize the spores and keep them from reproducing. i dont know just some ideas i guess. no i didnt do beer but i let my substrate sit for a few days before i boiled it, it smelled sweet after i boiled it and i think it was the yeast. it wasnt a bad smell, a good sweet smell.

well this wasnt after innoculation, it was right after i boiled the substrate. i think the smell had more to do with the effect of heat on the flour water vermiculite mixture after having let it set for a couple of days. i only got contams on one or two of the jars. but who knows why i did
