    #1041238 - 11/10/02 05:19 PM (15 years, 14 days ago)

i dunked a casing yesterday and when i took it out today to recase there were lots of little pins that were dark blue and some parts of the mycelieum were almost black. is that normal ? i was thinkin that it may be a contam or something like that

i have had contams caused by dunking, and it was my fault for not using boiled water with H2O2 added. Or because the bag was not very well closed [all food things around were breathing to my mycelium]

so it could be a contam. In my cases it was always a cobweb mold which is whitish and has nothin to do with dark blue/black. i could say bruising can cause blueish things obviously, but very dark colors and especially black are not so cool for a shroomerite to hear of.

a pic could have been much helpful though

I had the same thing happen to me when I dunked my casing, the pins are just aborts that you didn?t notice before.
They should just be picked and it should be fine.

same here.. dunked a cake last night (8 hours, birthed 1 day ago), put it in the terrarium before I went to bed and contams this morning.. I had no idea about boiling the water.. should've thought about that.
