Fanning with a fan?
    #10411758 - 05/28/09 01:44 AM (14 years, 10 months ago)

Hey, I may be crazy, but is it possible to set up a fan blowing toward your FC to increase FAE?

I could even point it backwards so it would gently draw air through the shotgun FC.  If I mist enough to make up for the difference, is there anything wrong with doing this?

I've even got a small 6 cm fan that I could have blowing.  I'm sure I could find the right balance and angle for the fan to get enough FAE without blasting the humidity out.

Has anyone tried this?

yeah, RR recommends having an oscillating fan on his videos, and many people have been doing that before him suggesting it...

Well if u can make up for the lost humidity then it is pretty much great. I am wondering if any contaminants will take advantage of the air current in order to invade your shit. Consider some anticontaminant measures.

You generally don't want a fan blowing directly onto your FC, or you'll dry out your substrate. A fan keeping air in the room moving, though, is a good idea. It's also a good idea to manually fan out a shotgun FC with the lid a few times a day after misting.

Dont point it directly at your fruiting chamber or try and having it draw air through the holes, which could effect humidity.

Using a fan wont remove the need for manual fanning. Exchanging the air quickly is more benificial than a constant rate of air exchange. plus you have to mist anyway so while your at it, you may as well fan.

You could just mist, then pick up yuour fan and give it a quick few seconds blast and that will exchange the air complety in your terrarium pretty quick. It would be kind of like a gust of wind.
