Pins vs Abhorts
    #1041170 - 11/10/02 04:48 PM (14 years, 7 months ago)

Have one cake with 30+ pins. What is the percentage of abhorts? Most pins, about 20 have red heads. Any way to determine abhorts this early?

Yes, there the ones that heads start dimming in color, they will cease growing while the others continue, pick them before they turn black.

Really. It's about two days after birthing. How big (long) until noticeable abhorts. Don't want contams.

Aborts can last for ages, there is no hurry to pick them off. Many pins will stay the same size during the first flush and start growing during the second/third flushes.
PS. there is no H in abort

Mr Fanaticus is not a genius. There is no such word as abhort. When something aborts, why would you put an extra H in just for the hell of it?

In reply to:

I've been wondering where the hell this form of the word originated?

No need to be a jackass man, there is a reason things are spelt the way they are, how many times have you used the search feature? It's nice when people spell things correctly.

I'm guilty of this myself, but only because I originally read from PF.. a google search on "abhort" yields 3 total page results, ~80% being related to mushies.. so I'd say PF farked up some time ago.

Aborts or abhorts, whichever you want to call them, usually have pointier caps, cease growing quickly, and turn dark to black.
