What must a vendor do to go from shroomery vendor to non shroomery vendor?

Should I not trust this vendor?

Rack up a few months of complaints.

and...I would not trust anyone, sponsor or not, unless I read actual, time-relevant posts about experiences with them from MORE than one person. That is your best bet.

I for one do not trust the sponsor list. Not enough people here sharing their experiences. I doubt most of them even communicate with people from this site. The FACT is, sponsors come and go WAY too frequently, getting pretty ridiculous.

I personally think the requirements for a sponsor are below acceptable standards. That is the only thing I can think of as to why so many come and go. Perhaps it is something else (?).

I haven't seen any complaints regarding Substraight, only another member's surprised reaction at their change in vendor status.

Has anyone seen any specific complaints about Substraight's business practices since their change in management?

Why Sponsors Come and Go [Re: kinderfeld11]

There are several reasons sponsors may come and go, and in most cases, it doesn't have much to do with how well they are servicing their customers.  There are of course times when a sponsor signs up with the Shroomery and soon realizes that the demand created by our community becomes too much for them to handle and they fall behind on orders.  This has been particularly true in the case of our recent compost vendors, but thankfully we still have High Mountain Compost standing strong, having sponsored the Shroomery for several years now and consistently providing a top quality product for our members with no hassle or gimmicks.

Certain sponsors have also decided to leave on their own accord, after having weighed the potential advertising exposure from our site on the one hand, with the sensitive subject matter that becomes associated with their business on the other.  Frankly, not all businesses have been able to maintain a level of comfort advertising in a community dedicated to a currently illicit substance.  There are also sponsors who have simply decided to close up shop to spend more time with their families.  Little Shop of Spores was about to do just this a couple of months ago in fact, but the forceful outcry from many of their loyal patrons upon hearing the news has caused them to reconsider.

In the past, we have most commonly dismissed vendors for poor behind-the-scenes ethical practices.  Customers may not have noticed any problems with the vendor in these instances, but we may have received complaints from other businesses (both Shroomery and non-Shroomery sponsors) that the given vendor has plagiarized certain original works (such as pictures or text) from other websites, and if the given sponsor cannot quickly remedy the situation to the satisfaction of the original content producers, we will terminate their contract.

There have also been a few vendors that we have dismissed due to internal business disputes, where there may have been two or more parties involved in the business and they had personal disagreements with each other about the distribution of work load or profits.  We typically notice this when a vendor fails to respond to a monthly invoice, and we have to track 'em down only to find out that their partner has been attempting to usurp the business from them.

Unfortunately, short of physically hopping on a plane to visit each individual sponsor applicant, we can't do much more than we already are doing to ensure that our sponsors will be trustworthy entities to conduct business with.  As it currently stands, we already require a 60 day review process for new applicants in which we monitor their websites, solicit feedback from references, and even conduct an extensive background check where we specifically look out for any credit and criminal fraud related issues on their credit report and state/federal criminal history.

I am sorry that on occasion a sponsor can let you (and us) down, but rest assured that we take a hard look at any complaints received, and that we do our best to screen new applicants before allowing them to solicit their businesses here.
