Weilii in woodchips

I found a lone weilii growing out of a patch of woodchips yesterday.
Before I spend a lot of time identifying the type of wood and everything I just wanna ask if this is an already documented habitat.

There was red clay under the chips, but I don't think the stem was physically touching it. I'll have pics soon.

Lizard King found a weilii coming out of a tree stump, so it's not impossible. The mycellium was very likely growing under the pile, and spread upwards to allow fruitbodies to grow.

Yeah, I picked some weilii mutants on haloween night, they were white/yellow with strangly deformed caps, would have never guessed it was them, but then I smelled them and check the bluing... bingo, muthafucka! :smile:

I'm going to go now, the sleeping medcincine is getting the best of me,

I found weilii growing out of red wood chips last year, I posted pics of the mushrooms which were a very nice cluster instead of singles growing next to each other. I have looked in that patch a few times ths summer but no avail yet, Im sure later in the fall they will pop up there again. So yes it has been documented as finding them in wood chips.
