So i ate a mango about 45 minutes ago....I just realized tonight that i have never had raw mango, it's just always been mixed in with certain dishes or other fruits. I also have never tried cutting a mango, so i kinda mangled it a bit and lost some of the goods....The taste wasn't exactly what i was expecting, a little odd at first but i liked it. I ended up squeezing some lime juice on the mango and the enhanced the flavor quite a bit....

Well, i'm going to toke up in a bit here and let you all know what i thought of it....

i got mangos and oranges growing at my place. fuckin squirrels try and steal them bitches from us!.. nothing like florida. although im yet to smoke and eat a mango.. if anyone has any insight from this i would like to hear as well. i'll be having festivities - if this is something ..

See, unbeknownst to me at the time, mangoes are in the poison ivy family. Likewise, the skin of a mango contains non-trivial levels of the chemical urushiol, that causes the rashes associated with poison ivy.

Now, try to imagine the worst poison ivy you've ever seen/had... on you lips.  They swelled to about 3 times normal size, and blistered, burned, and oozed like nothing else. I looked hell of stupid.  At this point (about 24 hours after eating the mango), I still had no idea what caused this, and frankly I was terrified. Luckily, my dermatologist is amazing, and was able to deduce what happened, despite never having seen a case of this (apparently "flaming mango lips" is somewhat common and well-documented in places where mangoes are more readily available, i.e. places that aren't Kentucky).  I got some Dexamethasone (steroid) and was sent home.

The moral of this story, Don't eat mangoes with the peel on.

Perhaps that's why you didn't notice much of a difference. Having a high tolerance, and the fact that you were smoking most of the day...Ya smoke enough weed you're going to be stoned regardless





The original source that i heard this mango thing from was actually a book by Ed Rosenthal, whom i would say is a very respected person in the area of cannabis/horticulture....

I have no doubt the levels of myrcene are high enough to have an effect....Just as grapefruits have high enough concentrations of the cytochrome P450 CYP3A4 enzyme inhibitor that causes an increase in bio-availability of opiates and other substances....
