First WBS Trial (Colonizing Day 9)

Ok so I recently posted a topic concerning coir and wbs selection, but since it started to go off topic and I got my answers I decided to make this thread that will run concurrently with my 1st BRF trial thread entitled "2nd Run Here We Go"
I got WBS that is unshelled, I'm pretty sure it has red and white millets, small pieces of corn, white and black sunflowers, and a small amount of pellets of osme sort. Some said it wasnt legitimate because the unshelled seeds release all of the starch or something, but others said it should be fine.

I've got 3/4 of 12 pints worth of WBS that soaked for 4 hours, I then rinsed it a few times, and now its on the oven boiling for another 5-10 minutes.

Ny colander is too small for all of the WBS, so I set up this triple colander overtop a bowl to catch the water with a fan blowing on it. It's typically used for dehydrating jerky but I'm gonna see if this does the trick.
One Question: Apparently it takes 1 hour to dry, how dry does it need to be? If its still a little wet/moist can I go ahead and PC them? Wish me luck guys, I'm gonna try and use these as spawn for a Bulk Horse Poo Monotub as well as try out a grain to grain transfer. Help is much appreciated.

should be fine to pc just make sure there is NO water pooling at the bottom of jar after pc. if there is, redo moisture and pc over again
wbs jar contams = too much water or not enough

This tek should cover any questions you have, swim followed it exactly and turned out great.
Docs Wild Bird Seed Tek
Was easy enough to follow and didn't involve cooking stuff in the oven. Good luck though with this run.

Ok. Thank you man.
Now. I've seen pictorials where people use polyfill or something as means for gas exchange for WBS, and use coffee filters for PCing. Is this necessary? I was thinking of just punching the 2 holes on the lid and using microspore tape like how I did with my BRF cakes. Is WBS more susceptible to contams than BRF?

Man... Preparing WBS is so much harder than BRF, whats the deal?
I'm just gonna go ahead and wing it. The water still seemed pretty brown even after a rinse, 5 hour soak, another 5 rinses, a boil, and another rinse. In an hour I'll have them in 12 pint jars with 4 punched holes covered in microspore tape, then the ring lid, then a coffee filter. I've got 8cc's of Creeper left and 12 CC's of Burmese/Yangoon
I'm short on rubber bands and paper foil, looks like ill have to make a quick trip to 7-11. BRB.

Ok so heres what we got. I got some sweet 7-11 bands!
Ok so here is where I ran into some trouble.
I could barely squeeze 12 pint jars into my PC, I arranged them so that the none of the steam pipes were being covered. But after PCing it for like 20-30 minutes I didnt get any pressure reading and I was worried that maybe it might blow up or something, so I aborted and let it cool off for a bit, and am asking you guys for guidance now.
Here is how its set up, so let me know if you think its ok.

Yes there is water in it, I have PCed before, my dilemma is that I'm worried that maybe the jars are blocking the escape of steam because its a really tight fit.

You're supposed to let the grains soak for 12-24 hours, somewhere in that range.
I usually put my WBS in a container with water to separate sunflowers seeds and floaters right off the bat. Then I rinse in a colander to remove excess debris. After that, I begin the 24-hour soak. Later I continue rinsing/straining-floaters until the water runs clear and then I start the drying process, proceeding from there I go to PC.
As for the long soak time, you want to give endospores time to germinate so the pressure cooker will destroy them.

I've heard 6 to 24 hours. As long as the water get that fermented smell and look the endo's should be good to go. I always go 24hrs so I dunno from experience but I also clear some but not all of the floaters. I've read that shells contain some nitrogen and that helps the spawn.

Hmmmmm well I'm hoping that everything will be ok. It's PCing now, and I will inoculate them tonight. I have 8cc's of Creeper left, and 12cc's of Burmese. How would you suggest I disperse those among my 12 pint jars?

Finish the creepers and 4cc's of the Burm. I dunno, 1st thing that popped into my head.
