How risky is it for me to be growing herb? (state/details inside )

I really like growing herb as a hobby and self medication. I have only 4 plants going at any time because 1) I don't sell and 2) the harvest from 4 plants will last me several months. But because I want to try new strains for my next grow, I like to keep a perpetual grow going. At the most I may have 4 budding females, and 4 fem seedlings coming up in trays at any given time.
Now I'm nervous as hell because even being only 4 plants, they are under a 400 HPS but the buds are massive as hell and it's a full time job controlling odor. Safe to say the odor is controlled. It's the factors I can't control or can't see coming that worry me.
I rent and the main room where visitors come is 100% odor free. My landlord never comes around, and I rarely see my neighbors. No friends or family have a clue as to what I'm doing.
I have no criminal record, not so much as a speeding ticket in 10 years. There are no other drugs, guns, scales at my apartment.
Given my state and laws:

My question is, how fucked could I be if -somehow- these are discovered?
Thanks

4 plants can land you intent to sell or distribution chargers, just be careful about what you do. Loose lips sink ships.

What is the mass of plant you are possesing at any time?
It depends on the prosecutor, but presumably they'd charge you with the weight of the entire plant.
Anyways, ohio is one of the best states for illegal marijuana cultivation, but they like to tack on charges everywhere, so you'd always be looking at traffickign charges- as presumably you do traffic anyways.

The plants are trained and pretty small (<1.5') in height. But they are very thick stemmed and large buds due to the good lighting/nutes and I would get railed big time if they went by entire plant weight. I am guessing 3000g range fresh would not be hard to hit going by total mass. Then again I've never exactly weighed a total plant so it's a wild guess.
So sounds like they would weigh the entire thing is what I gather from your responses...which means I could get years in federal prison for a couple plants *technically* speaking.
Sadly I will pull the plug for peace of mind after seeing your responses, thanks.

I have no idea what weight that coresponds to.
Here's production: http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/2925.04
You can find traficking at the same site. Look it up yourself and educate yoruself.
In ohio you could be charged without you even growing anything for the weight they can 'prove' you were going to attempt to grow, and sentenced to the same mandatory minimum or to one degree less serious an offense as you would have been convicted of had you actually done it. In other words, they'll screw you. I would stop now.
If you can keep it under 100grams its a minor misdemeanor though, one of the few states like that. (though they'd just charge you with other shit to get felonies).

What are you talking about trafficking, is that related to "intent to distribute" and how does it play in here?
Not that it matters I'm chopping them anyways.

trafficking- transfering from you to another. Passing a joint. Picking up some pot for a friend. Selling weed. Whatever.

It's a big risk but the main reasons people get busted are #1 talking about it to people they trust and #2 stealing electricity. The third might be getting caught selling or possession of something that gives them an excuse to search your apt. If you avoid doing all those things then you are fairly safe but not totally safe. The fourth factor that gets people busted is odor. Have you told anyone yet? Put a lock on the room or closet where you do your growing. The landlord has the legal right to come in and inspect the property. He is supposed to give notice but if he tips off the cops they can bust you.
They will weigh not just the plants but the pots and the dirt in them. They might weigh the couch if there is residue on it. If I were you and was going to quit, I'd finish up what I had going and then shut down. There is nothing to make you think you are about to be popped, right? You could start again in the fall when it gets cold. Be careful how you dispose of plant trash and so on. Don't just put it in your trash. Put it in a paper bag and put it in a bin or barrel far from your home. Save it up so that you don't make a lot of trips.
