Perlite question
    #1039416 - 11/09/02 08:46 PM (15 years, 5 months ago)

I just bought some scotts perlite today. It was one of those big bags. Like 3 dollars. Should i use this for fruiting tray and cakes?

Or just for the bottom of fruiting tray and use vermiculite for cakes?

Kinda confused on this subject.

Use the Verm for the cakes, and use the Perlite to raise the humidity in your Terrarium when you birth the cakes.

I've read of perlite being used as the bottom layer in a casing, but i don't think it's one of the more common bases.

My friend Gorbag uses about a half inch of oven sterilized pearlite on the bottom of the casing tray, dampened a bit.  He puts crumbled or cucumber-sliced BRF cakes in, lets it sit for 24 hours covered, then covers the whole thing with vermiculite.

It works very well for Gorbag.

PS hey Hobbit, me an Gorbag fought quite a bit over you... it's a shame you got away
