Beginner welcoming any advice whatsoever with MYCO bags...

I hope somebody on here could help me out. I am brand new to the cultivation of fungi, and need some help. I picked up a myco bag from a friend of mine. We inoculated the bags and after about 2 weeks I started to see growth. I was about 35-40% covered and I went ahead and evenly mixed the bag after seeing growth. That was 3 days ago. There is already small patches of mycilium growing on different parts of the substrate. It doesnt look very consistent, but it is defintely starting to rebuild and grow. So should I just wait another week or two before doing anything with this bag? ANY advice would be much appreciated. Thank you so very much!
P.S. There is not much moisture in my bag, but there is defintely growth. Should I create more moisture, and if so...how should i do this?
Thanks again!

Best thing you can do right now is leave it alone and wait for it to be done, which if mixed at 40% shouldn't take too long.

Thats what I thought. Thanks for your input. It should keep growing even if there isnt much moisture?

The moisture you want is inside the grains or substrate you are using, if you are using grains you shouldn't see excess moisture if everything is good. Sometimes you see condensation or the like though.

when it is close to fruiting cut the top off and and fill it up with water and let it soak over night.
a few times a day i like to open n close the bag to exchange air.

I've found that ignoring it for a few daze won't hurt most things at all. Go plant a tree and worry it to death. You'll have something to do and you may not fuck up your grow that way. Try to force something else to grow, like a tomato plant or a radish. Piss with it incessantly and force it out of the ground and into fruition. And when it doesn't work, take a break and look at your shrooms. I say this because I am the biggest worrier there ever was and I'm trying to learn to chill. That's the biggest thing us noobies have to learn. I'm not busting your balls friend. I relate totally to your question, and my answer is relax and let it.

prismism...thanks for being a dick. If you dont have anything useful, keep it moving.
Its not that I am tampering with the bag, I was just trying to get some advice if there was anyway to stimulate mycelium growth. I have been pretty good about leaving it alone. Thanks to everyone for the input. As for the jackass who posts ignorant statements, blow me.
I am pretty sure the point of a message board and forum is to exchange advice and knowledge with everyone, regardless of experience. Or did I miss something?

yes sir you are correct. good advice for you is that myco bags are a complete waste of money and you have to be extremely lazy to actually purchase one. therefore only lame people use mycobags. youre welcome. -prismism

Bags are a pretty good resource actually. You can get more substrate in bags than you can in jars. Even commercial mushroom farms use bags.
Just wait it out a bit. Once you crumble it, the mycelium will need to recover and then should start ripping through the grain fairly quick. It's best kept in a dark place and left alone for a few days. When you come back to look at it, you will be surprised.
Good luck.

Only Lame people use pre-filled, pre-sterilized myco bags.
Mycobags/filter patch bags are a good way of expanding spawn to more spawn via G2G.

Well thanks for the positive feedback & criticism:)
As for Prismism...obviously I am new to this, so I am trying to get a feel for mushroom cultivation. You can keep your comments to yourself for real, I am just trying to get information that is going to help me improve cultivation in the long run. I thought this would be a good way to learn the basics.

Here's some advice: signing your post makes you look really stupid! Although in your case the content of the post has already accomplished that.
50 bags cost 75 cents each, including shipping, and the price only goes down if you buy more. I'm not really sure how 75 cents is too expensive for something that can yield a pound of dry mushrooms once spawned to bulk substrate.

Mycobags/filter patch bags are a good way of expanding spawn to more spawn via G2G.
Will you guys give the OP a break? You guys are being ass*oles and your both wrong to boot! (and spawn bags aren't only for G2G )
For someone new, like the OP, pre-filled and sterilized myco-bags are perfect for spawn. A new person will have more success if all they have to do is inject into the bags a wait to spawn. There are SO many things to get right when making spawn bags, combine that with all the other 'new' concepts of growing fungi and a pre-made myco-bag is great.
I just ordered 10 of them. Why? Because my impulse sealer is broken and I didn't want order another cheap $40.00 model. I'd rather spend 100.00 on bags now and ~$200.00 on a nice impulse sealer when I can afford it.
So if the OP was to make his own bags he would need:
- impulse sealer = 40.00
- bag of rye = 50.00
- bags = 15.00
- PC = 100-200.00
- Fuc*ing everything up a few times = 50.00
- etc, etc.
That's $200-300.00 just for supplies to make spawn bags, not to mention a greenhouse or shotgun tubs, etc. He's looking at well over $300.00 for what you suggest. And yet he's brand new; he doesn't need all that stuff right now. He needs experience with identifying mycelium, contamination, learning to be patient, etc. There's plenty to learn without screwing with making bags right now...
Or he can spend $50.00 for 4 bags (10 qt of rye total), $35.00 for a greenhouse, free manure or buy coir and some other needed items for less than $150.00. And we all know if he does a good job he will have WAY more dried mushrooms than he could ever use himself...I hope he has lots of friends!
So please, lay of the OP, you guys are just being ass*oles. If it works for you to make your own bags than great! But don't shit on someones parade just cuz you have to take a crap...yes, I'm insinuating you might always be an ass*hole, not just in this thread.
Thanks for reading!
To the OP: Don't worry about those guys, keep you the good work! Good luck!
