Opera (browser) secure or not?
    #1038839 - 11/09/02 12:46 PM (21 years, 4 months ago)

Anyone use the Opera browser?
It kicks ass, the mouse shortcuts on it are excellent.

Is it secure?
I know IE probably has more holes in it than Swiss cheese, Opera any better?

Good luck

Opera is nice. As far as secure, that all depends on how you configure the security settings within the browser itself.

One great thing about Opera is that I've NEVER had a problem connecting to a proxy server. With IE and Netscape, browsing the net via a proxy only work some of the time.

Just my 2 cents.

I use opera too, I like the features and the stability compared to IE, whnever IE seemed to mess up it'd kill parts of my windows too. Grrr.

Hey DreamMatrix, congrats on your 2000th post! You're a great person to help the shroomery like you do.

Yup. What hooked me was the ability to open a ton of windows without your taskbar being clogged up.
I know you can do that in XP now but I hate the new XP scheme.

I tried opera a while back, but i really didn't like it. Now I use mozilla. I never have any problems connecting to proxy servers, and it rarely(as in it's only done it once) crashes. I recommend it to everyone. It also has a nice feature to block unwanted popups and the middle mouse button opens a link in a new window. Very nice.
