pressure cooker help

hi guys i was wondering, the first time i used the pressure cooker i had a problem.
i wanted to be sure that pressure could get into the jars so i put holes in the top naturally.
the thing i had trouble with is that water seeped into the holes even though i had a piece of alluminum foil over them tightly, or so i thought.
my question is what is the best way to protect against water coming in and at the same time keeping the jars safe from pressure.
what are your personal recommendations
thanks the noobie

put a rubber band around the foil on top of the jars

thats what i thought about doing or taping it around the sides but thought it might cut off the pressure to the jars and they would crack or worse, this won't happen?

depends on what your doing. If you have the lids upside down, and the bands on loose, it won't make a seal, so there is nothing to worry about.

I'd imagine the amount of water getting into your jars is quite neglible, unless the substrate is swimming at the end. Probably what you are seeing is condensed steam inside the jar at the end, as temperatures drop. The change in water vapor isnt that much I dont think my friend.

I think your problem might be in the amount of water you're putting in the pressure cooker. You cant submerge the jars in water,. Just put water in the bottom part. I personally only put about a quarter cup when I PC.

Also, for what it's worth, it's not the pressure that sterilizes the jars... it's the fact that the higher pressure raises the boiling point of the water, allowing the temperature to get significantly higher (I think it is about 250F at 15psi).
