 UFC 98 EVANS vs MACHIDA

I can't wait for this to take place Saturday. Two fights i have wanted to see for a bit now are going to take place EVANS vs MACHIDA, and HUGHES VS SERRA.
My picks on these two fights are so..
Machida takes the LHW title. I think Rashid is a good fighter, but he is going to get frustrated against Machida, and Lyoto will use that for the win.
Matt Serra shuts Matt Hughes's big mouth up.. I hate Matt Hughes with a passion, and Serra is a NY boy so i am down for him to stomp Hughes ass.

the fight itself, i garuntee, will be boring and go the distance. but that's the sport in it's purest form. two guys with all kinds of skill and technique.
matt hughes, if he beats serra, it will be by simple LnP, maybe some sidemount.
honestly, undercard is kind of meh (aside from sherk/edgar), but that's what the UFC has always done.

I'm expecting to hear a lot of boos during Evans vs machida. From what evans has said he plans to fight a smart fight. And we all know what that means. Especially fighting a counter fighter like machida.
I think evans got a better chance than ppl are giving him, He's quick.
But with that said I'll say machida takes the decision. Machida is better at fighting defensively.
I'm kinda fired up over hughes vs serra. Most fighters that "hate each other" do just for the sake of the fight. I think serra and hughes really want to fuck each other up. Hughes could win with control and gnp. But I think serra controls this fight on the feet. Hughes just don't have the speed to bring serra down. And if he does serras jujitsu is underrated. Serra by armbar last min of round 2.
Probably my favorite fight of the card will be Sherk vs Edgar. Edgar is underrated and has good wrestling. But sherk is at least as good in all aspects. Close fight but ill have to go with the roid shark tko stoppage in rnd 2.
Under card sucks.

hrmm, maybe you guys are right but I think that Machida Evans fight is going to be action. They're both fast and aggressive strikers, I can't see them being inactive.

I can, because they're both professionals that aren't going to take any unnecessary risks. I see Machida taking it, Rashad's footwork is probably better than any of the LHWs that Machida has faced in the UFC, but I still don't see him being able to "find" a fighter that is so good at such unconventional striking, especially from afar.
I see Serra winning his fight, especially if he fights like he did a few years ago (like against Penn). I mean, he still lost the fight, but he appeared to be a lot more aggressive than he is today.

There will be some good exchanges but the first round will be off to a slow start. It won't be shamrock vs Severn but there will be a lot of shadow boxing just out of range until someone sees an opening.
Maybe it will go to the ground machida is good at tripping ppl.

I like Machida because he's one of few fighters
who campaign to bring other forms of martial arts into MMA.
It's the same reason i enjoy watching Cung Le
i dont care if the fight goes the distance, because with a guy like him u can appreciate the technicality of the sport.

I loved watching Machida fight Ortiz while most casual fans and even 95% of the guys I train with thought it was an awful fight.
Someone as skilled as Machida will always be great for me to watch regardless of what happens in the fight.

I used to be a Matt Hughes hater
but it was really unwaranted.
The guy deserves alot of credit for being the kind of fighter he was for so long.
He really isn't the fighter he used to be, which saddens me.
Even though he was a prototype wrestler fighter, he was the most skilled athlete in the deepest division the UFC has had for the longest time.

the serra fight was disappointing. the judge totally should have stood them up more often. the machida fight however... predictable, as the only way evans won any of his fights was from lucky punches, and that wasn't going to happen on machida.

Im sold on machida now. Though his fanboys are the most annoying of all time. That was a horrible match up for Rashad. If Machida fights Rampage the same way he fought Rashad i actually give Rampage a better chance than Rashad. But i know Machida won't fight Rampage the same way.

I been a fan of Lyoto Machida since he came to UFC, and been preaching him on here for a bit now. A few of you can attest to this.
I said about a year ago that Lyoto was for real, and when given his chance he was going to be the champion, and damn i was right.

I laughed out loud when Joe Rogan said they should stand up Serra and Hughes. He has said many many times in the past he doesn't believe you should ever stand up fighters in the past and that it's a stupid rule. Hippocrit

I was disappointed to see Serra lose, but Machida's win more than made up for it. I was screaming like a girl when he won. Though, it was more about Evans finally losing than him winning. I just dislike Evans.

I think Machida would match up very well against Jackson as well.
There's nothing that Jackson brings which can really threaten Machida. Lyoto EASILY has the better standup. Rampage's standup is good, but a bit overrated by the Juanito lovers.
And I dont see him outwrestling the BJJ black belt and former Sumo title holder.
My dream fight at this point is Shogun vs Machida.
Shogun, if he has truely returned to form, will loom as the one true threat to the title. I mean, rampage DID mention Mauricio's the best fighter he's ever faced...

he had quite a repertoire coming into the ufc.
first guy to convincingly beat BJ Penn, finished Franklin, Bonnar...
I even give him credit for his wins against McDonald and Greco, neither guy very well rounded, but both coming in with a sick set of skills.
