Cardboard spawn

So I did some cardboard spawn from the last time I went mushroom hunting. I have cardboard spawns of cubensis, cope cyan, and what I am pretty sure is pan subb (haven't tested them yet).
Now on most of the cardboard spawns, the cardboard is squished together, but on some of the cubensis spawns the mycelium I took from the base of the stem was kind of fat, so there's a little space between the two pieces of cardboard.
Now when I look at a light through that small space between the two pieces of cardboard I see a bunch of tiny fine hairs. Possibly thready of mycelium growing?
Also what used to be a solid piece of mushroom stem/mycelium looks kind of like a fuzzy ball now. How likely is it for contaminents to take over, if at all?
I'll get some pics of it tomorrow, if possible.
*EDIT: Oh yeah, I have just been getting them wet every few days, and letting them stay a little damp. Though this last time, I have let them get a little bit dryer so they wont be wet the whole time. I've been doing this for about maybe two weeks.

You can cover the cardboard with some manure in a small bed outdoors and it will probably take off for you. Since it's not sterile, you won't want to use it to inoculate grain spawn or pasteurized manure indoors. RR

Cool. You guys have any recommendations for how long I should let the mycelium colonize the cardboard before throwing it into some manure?
There's a bunch of horse manure mixed with straw and wood chips at the stables near here that I can use for some substrate in the outdoor patch. I was just planning on going into the woods and digging up a few spots and filling them in with manure. And then if humidity control is necessary I can figure something out. It's been real humid here lately though, like 70%+ so hopefully I wouldn't even have to deal with that.
*EDIT: When I do all this, I'll be sure to take pictures.
