Texas Hydroponic Supply off of Manana road sells perlite and verm. Almost everything else I got from wal-mart and amazon.com.

Skip Wal-Mart, hit up Ace Hardware. They've got verm.

Alabama Slim said: everything on your list is perfectly legal and easily found around any major town......except maybe petris......just order a couple hundred online and have sent to a friends house if your paranoid.
agar -chinese food store compost -hardware superstore straw - any feed store or craft shop coir - pet store manure - free at stables or buy at hardware store
Edit**
just go to mycosupply.com nothing bad will come of it ever.
Petri dishes, (of mediocre quality), can be bought at Fry's Electronics, (Believe it or Not! ). Adam's Feed store in Arlington has quite a bit of supplies. Callaways has tons of Verm. Pet Smart for the Coir

Not that you should worry about ordering any of the stuff you mentioned online, but you could always mail a money order or cash to avoid a paper trail if you can't find the stuff locally.

Mikes Nursery has 20 kilo bags of verm. for 30$ and Composted Cow Manure 50lbs for 20$
Hong Kong Super Market at New York and 303 In Arlington has agar-agar for $1.50 for 1.5 oz
There is a brewery supply off of 820 south that carries Dextrose and Malt Extract
Pet Co. carries bricks of Coco Coir and 40lb Bags of bird Seed
I buy Petri dishes by the case, same with syringes, culture tubes, scalpels, scalpel blades, Large Filter Patch Bags, and gloves. So I order them online about once a year.

Great Info.
What's the name of that brewery? I definitely have to hit that up for the Malt and Dextrose.

I'm prety sure there's another brewing store over in Richardson. all I can remember is it's in a shopping center with a place called ShadowLAN Gaming. It would either be on Coit or Campbell because I always passed it on my way to Richardson Bike Mart.

The brewery shop is called "The Wine Maker Shop" and is located at 3006 SE Loop 820, Fort Worth (817) 568-4700 (Store number)
They also carry 1gal plastic storage containers with a screw top. I bought a few to store my dextrose and Malt Extract.
They carry malt extract in both dry and liquid form and have a great selection of yeast as well
The local thrift stores tend to have Pressure cookers and loads of jars around this time of year as well.
I even know a bar in the area that, on Sunday, has $2.50 beers and free all you can eat bar-b-q with no cover and a 1 drink minimum. God I love finding cheep stuff.

Thanks! It's actually very very close to where I live at!
The Hong Kong Supermarket on Pioneer and New York has the Powdered AGAR AGAR right up at the registers as you are about to check out. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3245/2296175429_70a4cd7647_b.jpg
