Since I've put down the herb about 5 days ago I've been staying up later and later til i pretty much almost always head to bed for 4-5 hours between 3-6am. It's not a good cycle..anyone else ever have this happen? I'm a fairly regular smoker and I've taken many breaks before but nothin like this has happened..strange

yeah it happens to me...
a friend of mine also had a period of insomnia after quitting smoking. For me, i dont know if its withdrawls so much as i am a natural insomniac, and smoking enough keeps me on a healthy sleep schedule. Most sleep aids make me physically tired for a little while, then I'm sorta wired for the next many hours.

i feel like there's nothing natural about being an insomniac though. i mean, i love being awake at night though everything is so quiet and peaceful i feel like the only person alive.

I get it bad but working 3rd shift helps a lot. I don't think I could go back to first.

Always for the first week or two after stopping. I sometimes taper down during my quitting times to just a dime for one week. I then take a hit or two a night; helps with the insomnia.

That's how I do it.
I go from a 1/4 a week habit.
Then I will do 1/8th the week I decide to quit... the 3.5g isn't spread evenly though, you would be smoking close to 1g the first day down to ~0.3g by the 7th day.
Then the 2nd week I'll have 1g tops. Start 0.3g where you left off the previous week for the first day, then taper down till you're basically at 1 small hit by the 7th day.
= how I quit weed, take your time, plan ahead when you're going to quit.

tapering down sounds like a good idea i just didn't have the foresight, gotta be clean and testable in like 2-3 weeks so i figured i'd make sure i was 100% clean with like a month of no smoke

Just wake up very early and exercise like a mofo everyday.
If you set your alarm for 5am everyday and physically hammer your body with exercise, withdrawing from cannabis or not... you will be sleeping like a baby by 10pm.
The goal is to wakeup at the same time everyday without fail.
There's no such thing as "going to bed later and later". If you go to bed at 3am, your alarm is still set at 5am... you got to get up (no napping during the day!).
You can't tell me you will stay up till 4am now by day 5 (where you are now), you should be well and truely into a good pattern.

Urgh, the sleep/smoke cycle is the bane of my life, I love smoking but if I don't have weed I can't sleep, if I can't sleep I get stressed and when I'm stressed the only thing that will chill me out properly is a nice fat doobie...Life's a bitch sometimes :p

After vaping this morning, I have been pondering another break. I have an insane tolerance right now, and although it doesn't bother me to use a lot of bud to get high, I want to save my lungs
I think I will start my break. I'm not sure how long I should wait. I guess I'll do a 2 week break or so and see where I am after that.
