using old spore syringe to deliver water to DEC

i've got an old 10 ml spore syringe.. which i'm going to use to give water directly to the top casing on my double cased cakes. i'll probably mist a little too .. - too keep the humidity up and perlite damp.
will this syringe be fine to use?.. it's been knocking around with the dust cap on for about a month.. i don't have to sterlize it or any shit like that?
finally: the tek i read said to use a syringe - full (i think) - which seems excessive... > should i just use enough to saturate the vermiculate? i've had a problem with the cakes drying out... so i reckon more is probably better...
thanks b

I'd sterilize it. Or at least rinse with alcohol or something. I mean... really.

You should be misting every day (fanning right after). Remember to dunk inbetween every flush, waiting a couple days after a flush finishes before dunking.
You say the syringe is only a month old? That's really not old at all...why waste it?? ~Pixie~

yeh i'm misting/fanning about six to seven times a day... (cakes seem to dry quickly...) - so i mist every-time to prevent this..
the syringe is empty... but was a B+ previously. so should i just burn the end with a lighter.. -> suck up some mineral water and squirt it on the top casing...? and should i do this once a day.. - or only when the vermiculate seems very dry?
thanks b

You shouldn't have to mist that often, what kind of FC are you using? I was misting 3-4 times daily with my shotgun and it was perfect.

shotgun: 4.5 " perlite holes 2 " apart.. quarter inch drill six cakes in there... and they've still been getting dry.
since then i have applied the bottom part of a double end case. and it has helped a bit..
should the cake feel moist/damp or more wet than that .. or drier?
i'm just worried because they were extremely dry.. and there havn't been any real signs.. other than it looks fluffy in patches.. but i don't think theres been any big changes in 12 days..

When I touch mine they feel a little damp, I spray a lot more than a few times, probably like 20 sprays or so? Enough so that the whole tub is full of mist at once and then some.

ah right.... i haven't been doing that much at all!! maybe six or seven mists... and you fanned after misting each time?? and the cakes stayed damp...
edit: i just checked my cakes and the top vermiculate layer seems to have dried up a bit.. after only 1 day and a half.. will watering with that old syringe be fine? b

Should be fine, why not just use the misting bottle from close up?

just because the mist tends to spray other cakes sides... (wide nozzel) and it's kinda clumsy..
cool man thanks b
