Mushroom from maine. Bluing P. Look-a-like
    #10344471 - 05/15/09 04:19 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

Yeah, i live in maine, I have no idea what it is. I i have seen it with about 70 grams of other mushrooms that look alot like it.
Wavy cap, brownish-black stalk. The center of the cap is almost black. They were every where on a rotting log, my book says Bluing P. is British columbia to San francisco, in september to october. Soooo its definately not that. After handling it turned lighter not darker.

What was it growing from?

Looks like a Galerina.

Also, from another thread:

"P." is not another way of saying Psilocybe.  It's an abbreviation that has meaning only in context after a genus name has already been mentioned, and "P." simply refers to ANY genus name already mentioned that begins with a "P".  If multiple genera beginning with the same letter are mentioned, then you use the second letter as well, to distinguish them.

Looks like Galerina to me. I don't see any bluing at all.

I think he meant that it looks like a bluing Psilocybe...  But yeah, the interpretation is unclear.

That's the hygrophanous effect, not a result of handling it.

I'm assuming that you have internet access due to the fact that you are posting here...
You should try searching for info and photos of Galerina (not "galernia").

A good start would be taking a spore print.

You spelled "Galernia" twice, so I was pointing out the typo in case the reason you were unable to find any information had something to do with that, since there is a TON of info online about the genus so it would seem hard to miss.

Your questions made it seem like you had not looked into it.  I apologize if you had.
