P. cubensis and P. azurescens jars
    #1034624 -

I inoculated a couple of Jars prepared according to www.fungifun.org/pf on the 31th of October.

The jar inoculated with P. cubensis Cambodia spores and incubated at 80?F is already nearly completely colonized, the one inoculated with P. azurescens spores and incubated at 70?F is not growing so fast.
I substituted simmered millet for a part of the vermiculte in the recipe, around 20% by volume.

What plans do you have for the azurescens cake?

Hey anno,
Both are lookin pretty good! The azures I would expect to be a lot slower by nature, besides it has only been one week so they are looking great actually! Is 70 F the optimal incubation temperature for azures?

I would be very interested in seeing you try to fruit the azure cake in a terrarium with moist cardboard draped over it. I've always been skeptical of this "simplified" tek, and would like to see it attempted by someone with experience with this species. While the article is well written, if the methodology is discredited, maybe it should be removed from the growing info section of the shroomery.

>What plans do you have for the azurescens cake?
I basically just want to see how long it takes to colonize, and then i want to inoculate some sterilized woodchips with it, the standard route, only that it bypasses agar...

If you ask me, I think that the species this tek was successful with, was P. cubensis, and not p. azurescens .

>if the methodology is discredited, maybe it should be removed from the growing info section of the shroomery.
Or at least a warning comment added.

I?ve choosen a print that looked very "untouched" and healthy and prepared the syringe like I normaly do, using the psilocyber?s syringe tek.

Anno, thanks for doing that tek!

I found the tek to be very useful, and it works very well.

I just have one thing id change. The verm:brf ratio seems to be lacking as far as BRF is concerned, maybe its just me? Your cambo's seem to have taken to it greatly, but I found when I use more BRF it colonizes faster. could this just be other factors?

Besides that, the tek is awesome, and better than MMGG or original PF-Tek in my opinion, just because it cuts out a lot of the bullshit.

Good job

>The verm:brf ratio seems to be lacking as far as BRF is concerned, maybe its just me?

The amount of BRF is settled between the fanaticus?original formula ( 1/8 cup=0.125 cup) and the "maximum yield" formula(1/4 cup=0.25 cup).
I use 0.17 cup.
The reason I don?t use more is that I found that this amount is the best for the method of preparation I use, namely soaking the vermiculite to the field capacity first, then adding BRF.
If you use somewhat more BRF(which you allways can), you?d have to add more water, and the tek wouldn?t be that easy for the newbie, since you can?t really tell by looking at the substrate if it?s wet enough or too wet, if you?re doing it for your first time.

Anno, I'm sure you've heard it many times before, but you are a very great person.

You added the millet the PF cake right?

Yes, I added some millet to it.

Note, that if you add some other grain than BRF, you have to pressure cook the jars for a full hour.

Thanks for the extra clarification, I have a PC myself, but I'd hate for my question to cause someone to mess that up.

Since a few days the P. azurescens jar has been completely colonized:
