Help me ID some MASSIVE mushrooms. (Kentucky)

Somehow I was drawn to a patch of these today. They're absolutely enormous, the biggest I found measuring over a foot across (I didn't collect it as it was deteriorating). I haven't seen anything in Kentucky this big. And there were lots of them too. If I go back tomorrow I'll take a picture of the patch of them. Any ideas on what they are? I looked through my mushroom book, but didn't find anything that looked particularly close.
Habitat:Bed of wood chips underneath some juneberries and white pines. Near a cave spring.
Gills: Gills are white to light yellow. Attached? (They attach up higher).
Stem: Thick and rubbery. White.
Cap: White to tannish yellow. Cracking in the center. Cups upward in mature mushrooms. Moist but not slimy.
Spore print color: White
Bruising: No bruising.
Location: Western Kentucky

Maybe Tricholoma or Leucopaxillus? Are the gill edges serrated at all?

They're wavy, but I don't know that I'd go as far as to say serrated.
The odor of the mushroom is pretty nondescript. Maybe a bit meatier than a white button.
Could it be a Giant Clitocybe?

I was just looking at that but I don't think what you have is one? Do the young specimens produce latex when broken? inski.

Young mushrooms seem to produce.... absolutely nothing when broken/cut in half.
As for the giant clitocybe, I don't know. The environment is right, as is the size, but beyond that... For being such a large mushroom, this one is a tough identification. Also, I don't know if the size has more to do with the mushroom itself, or just an excellent set of conditions for mushroom growth (it has been an uncharacteristically rainy May, with temperatures warm, and humidity high).

Actually... yes. A pretty good one at that. What should I be looking for with the spores?

Can you make any micrographs, it may be obvious what you have to someone if they could see the shape and size of the spores and other microscopic features! inski.

Bwah. Not that good, but I wish. Under a microscope all I can tell is that they are mostly oval and not completely smooth. Beyond that, my depth of focus at 40x/100x isn't good enough to distinguish much. I wish I had something for size comparison.

I went back and got some pictures of how they grow if this helps any.
These were growing in the same mulch bed. Dead Man's Fingers (at least I hope that's what they are). Not sure if there's any significance, but kind of interesting.

Those look like Neolentinus, that is probably why Alan asked about serration of the gills. If you look at the edge of the gills, not the edge of the cap are the gills sawtooth? Use a magnifying glass or a loupe if you have one to check out the edges of the gills. This is the time of year that Neolentinus fruits in your area.

Do false chanterelles get that big? If not I would be inclined to go with Giant clitocybe.

Oi. I forgot about this thread until I found rotting mushrooms in my fridge earlier today. I did actually check for the gill serrations, earlier, and they were present, but less pronounced than I had originally anticipated (the magnifying glass helped clarify). So... does that peg them as Neolentinus? If so do they have any value beyond novelty, and being mycologically interesting?

If they are Neolentinus they are tasty when young they tend to get tough as they get older. I'd want to see the serrations on a younger mushroom to say for certain that is what they are.
