I just bought them used but in good shape.
A set of four Bridgestones for $125.
I work at an electrical contractor's office/shop, so it was not a big deal.
We have air guns and tire plugs, so

Buy used.
You can check the tread on a set before you buy them.

Try getting someone to hit the starter while you turn the car over with a tire iron.
If it starts, it's the starter.

Do you have an ohm meter?
You can get a cheap one at wally world ($5-10)
Better yet, just get your car up to Auto Zone and tell them to check it for you.
Anything under 14 VDC is a weak battery.

Could be the ignition switch. If they don't have to replace the entire column, it should cost less than a starter. Junkyards can prolly get you a starter for $100-$150; columns are another story. Depends on make and model.

Well, there's a bright side to it being a '95. Removes the possibility that you probably have to get the entire electrical system replaced (I almost had to do that to my 2002, until they found it was the switch). Car makers weren't really smart enough back then to replace entire fucking systems to replace a menial part.
I'd really have the ignition switch checked first considering the vehicle is 14 years old.

They can still check the battery with an ohm meter.
Have them tell you what the voltage is, or read the meter yourself.
You don't want to buy a new battery if you don't need one.
14 volts.

No offense, but 4 tires for under 100$ is a horrifying thought. Stopping distance of 1000 feet? I understand we can't all afford expensive sets of tires, but christ... it's a safety thing. I personally buy my tires from tirerack.com and if they're more performance related, or depending on which car it's going on, their insurance for about 20$ a tire that lasts the whole lifetime of the tire, and they send you replacements for free if one goes flat, etc. is totally worth it

a simple patch on the inside should do the trick
and for the dude looking for tires for under $100............. you aren't going to find it you should find a set of 2 then put them on your back if you have a FWD or the front if you have a RWD, then replace the others once you get money. if you have a 4wd i think you're screwed cuz you gotta replace them all

Says who? I purposefully run substantially worn down (think slicks) on the front of an FWD, get a lot of understeer in the rain, but if you know what you're doing it's still drivable. RWD I would do the same unless I really needed stability in the rain, but I like twitchiness .
AWD/4WD, you're screwwed though. I agree with that lol, but you can still run say a bald front so in the dry you have nice turn in...

Well since a FWD has power on the front, you should put the better wheels in back in case you start sliding, because the back wheels cannot create any friction of their own. If you put bald tires on the back and good ones on the front you're going to be slip sliding and then when it comes time to try to dodge that bust that just cut you off your rear is going to FLY

To correct a FWD slide, you gas it and give opposite lock, the front pulling the rear back in order. I'd rather have the grippy tires pulling in the front, the rear will be just fine . Plus, I like sliding a tiny bit, tiny weight transfer into the turn, have the rear step out a tiny bit then correct for oversteer putting down the power right before the first clipping point of the apex and power out

Oh, and I misread what you said... I consider bald tires better than treaded tires if driving on tarmac, larger surface area = more grip

IDK wtf you just said lol but i'm talking in terms of straight safety on a budget, better tires in the back of a FWD is what i've always been told, that way when you get new tires, they wont be worn as much and you can switch them up to the front.

obviously if tires are about to blow then i wouldn't put them on the front where the drive train is, but if they're simply balding and not completely stripped then thats where i would put them

lol, I have racing experience and get incredibly bored if I don't push my car atleast once a day. But, if your tires are legitimately going to blow out, keep them AWAY from your drivetrain because that puts a lot of extra wear on the tires, and drive like a pansy til you replace them. Those few hundred dollars will turn into a few thousand (most likely) if you have a tire legitimately blow out. I'll agree with you on that part, but if they're just bald I'd murder them on the drivetrain
