Well heres a fungi that I found growing off an oak branch.
Very fleshy feeling, most specimens were about 2-5 inches accross, white porus/veiny underside... Very fleshy feel to them, not hard.
Did not get a spore print.
Are these turkey tails or what?

And a beautiful red mysquite (spelling?) The rain made it so bright red, its not as bright in the picture, but you get the idea.

I believe Turkey Tails grow in more of a complete circle... I think those are false Turkey Tails(Stereum Ostrea). Don't take my word though, I have no clue how to identify Shelf Mushrooms... maybe ToxicMan or Mr Mushrooms could fill us in?
That red tree is crazy as hell... I thought it was a peice of coral in the thumbnail. Very cool, I wish those grew here

Nice photo. Your description of the fertile surface makes me wish you had posted a photo of the underside (do you have one?).
The combination of white color and "porus/veiny" suggests Merulius to me, although I don't know any of them that look like your specimens. The black & white photo in Arora (p. 610) is the best I've seen anywhere and illustrates very well what I'm guessing you mean by that description.
Are there any color changes or odors to them? How thick were they (at the thickest)?
If you can post a photo to show the underside it would be a great help.
Anyway, let us know.

Well, Ive decided that it is a "false turkey tail", Stereum hirsutum. Or a close realitive. The description is a perfect fit actually.
I dont have any pics of the unerside, there were no gills nor pores, just a flat fleshy surface. There were hairy specimens as well, in a mixed group of these and trametes.
In Arora: "Found in our area year-round, especially on dead oak". I live in the same area as him so...
