DANBURY - A national marijuana advocacy group has dumped its Connecticut chapter after the local's vice president was arrested for allegedly implying harm against a state senator.

Allen St. Pierre, the executive director of National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, says the state chapter's affiliation was withdrawn after Dominic Vita's arrest.

Vita was charged Friday with disorderly conduct. He's accused of sending an e-mail saying he was "getting ready to go postal" to Sen. Toni Boucher, an opponent of relaxing marijuana laws.

Vita says he sent the e-mail to Boucher by accident and has apologized. He says he'll resign from the state chapter.

A legislative committee is set to vote Tuesday on a proposal to decriminalize marijuana in the state.

postal?  as in a mass mailing campaign?  That's not illegal at all.

What does "getting ready to go postal" mean?

Quote:

Going postal is an American English slang term, used as a verb meaning to suddenly become extremely and uncontrollably angry, often to the point of violence and in a workplace environment. The term derives from a series of incidents from 1983 onward in which United States Postal Service (USPS) workers shot and killed managers, fellow workers, and members of the police or general public. Between 1986 and 1997, more than 40 people were killed in at least 20 incidents of workplace rage. Following this series of events, the idiom entered common parlance and has been applied to murders committed by employees in acts of workplace rage, irrespective of the employer; and generally to describe fits of rage, though not necessarily at the level of murder, in or outside the workplace.

Post office workers usually get depressed and frustrated, and then bring guns to work Columbine style.

I understand the man's frustration but threatening government officials in many places is taken very seriously.  I'd tell that guy to smoke a joint and chill out, progress is slowly being made in the fight for marijuana reform.
