Learnt?! Learned!
Actually, there are some active species of Gymnopilus, which have rusty spores. As purple_mule pointed out, it looks like that is what you have found.
If you were local I would say G. luteofolius, however, you are far away and I'm sure that is a different species. Yours are more pale and less red/purple than G. luteofolius. It looks active, though. Check for green or blue colours, especially near the base or on any aborted mushroom pins.

Found a few of those up here in qld a year ago, growing from a dead eucalypt stump. They smelled like off vinegar though, so i left the suckers be :S

They could well be Gymnopilus Purpuratus. You should pop some more pictures up of the undersides, and also look at the print under a microscope

Q#1: cut a paper square out with a print on it. Fold it in the middle. Fold aluminum foil around it and stick it in a letter with my address and put a stamp on it. Q#2: I would say about 4-5 grams of cracker dry mushrooms or around 40 grams fresh. You can consult the dosage calculator: http://www.shroomery.org/6257/Magic-Mushroom-Dosage-Calculator

Very cool find! Can you take some shots of them growing out of the log? What kind of wood are they on?

Learnt?! Learned!
Learnt is actually an accepted past participle of learn. It's the crazy Brit way. They do that to other words too, and they are all acceptable forms.

Good to know. I'm all for slang as long as the prose is otherwise articulate. Slang terms in context with misspellings and lack of punctuation irks me. To me it's like, if you can't communicate effectively as is, then the addition of slang makes your writing that much less comprehensible.
It may not bother most people... And in this case, I was able to understand what the OP was saying.

It's not slang though, it's legit English, weird but legit.
The only reason I brought it up was because earlier this year a British kid called me out after I told him "spelt" was incorrect. Turns out I was wrong. Besides being a bread, spelt is the past participle of "to spell." Lol who knew...
I could tell from your posts that you care about grammar, as do I, so I figured that you wouldn't mind the info.

They are too cool to eat anyway, you should dry them and give them to a mycologist at your local university.
