it's honestly not worth pursuing, it could cost you more than $10k to file and sue and would take several months to several years, all at $300/hr to the lawyer, best option is to get a new insurance company but avoid the ones that claim they're discount insurers, stick with the big dogs like All State, Geico, State Farm and one that's always done well by me, Farm Bureau, I had full coverage commercial through them that ran $500 every six, it's cheaper than I paid for liability with a few discount providers

Agreed, would be a waste of time and money to pursue it. Insurance companies do strange things, best to stick with ones who are consistent and actually there when you need em.

I use AAA insurance ,it`s pretty cheap.....365 dollars a year for liability and thats upgraded from the minimum to cover alot of shit.
The best thing you can do is not to do business with that company, demand any money they owe you back and tell everyone to stay away from that company.

Sounds shitty to me too ,but unfortunatly there is not much regarding business practices like that and unless you have tons of cash ,there is not alot you can do and they know it,so they will do as they please.
Call AAA if they are in your area ,tell them what happened and see what they can do for you.......
If they already charged you for a year and only insured you 8 months ,they owe you some money, even if you payed monthly and they cancelled you early ,they owe you some money.
I dont see how this could cost more than normal, just a hassel.

You got screwed and it cost you ,be shure and exspress this as the main them of your complaint to the big boss and when you call the better business bureau ,tell them they cancelled you with no notice and with no reason, let them try and exsplain the one year garbage to the better business bereau ,dont even mention that ,just say you were cancelled with no notice and they could not exsplain why ,then tell them about it causing problems with the DMV and how this is no way to run a business,be shure to tell them the first notice you got was from the DMV,not your insurance provider, also tell that to the big boss at the insurance company and be shure to let him know you are filing a complaint with the better business bureau.

Not sure what you can do, personally I would raise such a stink that marketing (plenty of blogs out there who would publish this) would force the company as a whole to at a minimum repay you. Good luck man
And, my insurance company is weird... state farm made me pay for an accident that wasn't my fault (although they only made me pay like 100$ more a year). Infact, my car wasn't even as much as scratched or dented nor was any contact made. I was driving aggressively, lady saw me, freaked out (on the phone) slams on the gas and drives into a sign. Being the good person I am, I pull over make sure she's okay call the police over and get not only a ticket, but then had my insurance pay for her. Oh well the cop even took my damn pba card...
But, your situation sounds worse, so I feel your pain. Best of luck!

all i can say about that is: its fucking fine print jew conspiracy. honestly though that's just bullcrap. i stay away from cars because not only are you completely in the hands of police officers if youre driving around, but its too god damn expensive. gas, insurance, the actual car, faulty parts... its all too much for me.
