Trying to find the story I read that there were 14 cases earlier this year (February) in India.
I wonder if that was around when the US warned all americans to get out of there??
There were some other scattered cases too over in Europe.

That's no fun.
It's about the plague.
And the version I heard was that line two refers to the tradition of stuffing people with the plagues pockets with posies because they stank...not as a superstitious attempt to ward it off.
Ashes, ashes has nothing to do with sneezing and everything to do with the human bonfires that became of many plague victims in order to...ward off the plague.

Some people are immune. Those that have a "delta 32" mutation of a specific gene (I forget which one), which codes for a transmembranous protein that the plague uses to enter white blood cells. Interestingly enough, people with this same mutation also are immune to AIDs, as it takes advantage of the same protein. However, it's best if you have this mutated gene on both sides of your family.
The plague wiped out approximately 2/3rds (?) of the European population in several outbreaks during the two centuries that followed 1348, and that legacy was the elimination of many Europeans who did not have this particular genetic mutation. However, its percentage of incident has been considerable lowered over the past 400 years, but I believe it's still around 10% in Europe.
I?m going from memory here so some things may be slightly off? 
PS: I believe the "Ring around the Rosey" thing is not an "urban myth" (or more correctly, a piece of contemporary mythology, which is just as likely to occur in the suburbs or in rural farm districts). Debunking urban myths on the internet is sort of like spreading them on the internet. The internet is just not a real good source for info sometimes?

Please call them modern legend or modern myth...I don't know exactly how the word "urban" got associated with the whole term and I think it should be consciously removed.

I fixed it! 
I went with the term contemporary mythology, as modern can connote Modernity as a historic time period anywhere between 1789 and 1965 depending on the school of thought you adhere to.
