The Scenario: 4 jars, 99.99% rdy....

i have a mini shroom on one of my cakees. for the last 4 days, ive been wondering wtf this abnormal little thing was (abnormal from the rest of the fluffy white cake) all jars have 1 spot smaller than the radius of a dime down on the bottom that hasnt colonized yet, but the rest of the cakes are fully colonized and shrunken from the water being sucked out of them. (the substrate WAS packed a little too tight, so i believe thats why they are so far along, but at the same time, not finished colonizing. And for the first couple of weeks they were allowed to get ambient sunlight, which probably explains the little schroom
My questions are....
Should i wait until these little tiny spots are covered over with myc before i implement the dunk/cold shock TEK. (there really small, and i KNOW for a fact, that the rest of the cake is FULLY colonized, inside and out)
What should i do with this little schroom? im afraid of it rotting, and injuring the rest of this cake. (is there a chance of this happening) should i leave it alone or cut it off when i prepare them for dunk/shock TEK
thanks..

Try the method I mention in THIS POST. It works well for situations like this. When you are crumbling up your cakes, simply cut out that little dime size spot with a steak knife or gently brush it with your finger into the trash. You can give it a few more days to colonize too. The little shroom guy that's growing in the jar, well, it happens sometimes... I would give it 2 or 3 more days, then pop them out and do the casing method I mentioned, but pick that little shroom guy off and eat him. The rest would go into the casing.

i would heed your advise, except for one thing.... im not going to case them.
im new to this, so im trying to learn one TEK at a time. in the future, i will surely be casing cakes, but for now, im going to stick by the PF TEK until these ones are spent.

I'd probably just remove it, carefully, before it rots on the cake and becomes a contamination issue. If it's not growing then it must be an abhort, true?

ok, after having a PM conversation with a very helpful person, we've decided that it is always a very bad idea to continue the growing process with uncolonized spots, even if they are very small. so im going to keep them in the incubator for another 24-48 hours.
as for the tiny schroom, when the jars are done, and i open them, i will cut them right off to be on the safe side (if they rot on the cake, ill have problems)
and thats all... hopefully by this time next week, i will be pickin my first flush and patting myself on the back for only starting off with 4 cakes, and having them all survive the most important stage in its life....colonization.
thanks all.
