Use a different light. What kind are you using? Where is the light located in relation to the chamber?

r u gonna use a 1000W lamp?
otherwise, the temp will be increased, but not THAT much. you can use a thermometer though, check the temp with the light off and then with the light on [leave it on for say 15 minutes]. if it is really exceeding what it should, then you can use as a quick and cheep cure, water that has been boiled and then stored in the fridge.

Move the light away from the fruiting chamber. It does not have to sit right on top of it.

well....its a special plant light...god i cant remember the name of it now that i am at work. but its a good light. its mounted on a wall 2 feet from my chambers pointing at them. i think the problem is that i have created a dark room of sorts. its like black painters tarp surrounding my shelves that the chambers sit on. it looks nice. i think maybe i just need to make it higher so there is more room for air to circulate. maybe put in a small fan. i dunno. :\

You can always pick up a cheap flourescent light stick for around $10 at Walmart or something.. There's one specific one I like called Gro-Stick, meant for plants. It works great, it's cheap, generates very little heat and lasts for years.

all you need is some kind of light, any kind of light. some folks just use ambient light coming through a window with great success. just a plain light bulb or a cheap flourescent should be fine. if you're using a high pressure sodium or metal halide, you are going way overboard.

Putting clean, cold water in the the chamber as a heat sink is a good tip, but it sure sound like a pain in the ass. I'd try repositioning the light. You could possibly use a translucent light disperser to trap some heat but let the light through.

In reply to:

Mushrooms are NO plants. They dont need light for photosynthesis. Plants die without light. Mycelium is not.
There are only two reasons you need light:
a) inititate pinning [along with other factors] b) help them grow straight up - otherwise they will be going whenever they want, probably on the sides producing ugly shrooms or cause problems to the casing such as shrooms that go up and then they realise they are too shy to face the world and head towards the casing again, making donuts instead of shrooms lol lol lol

okay so while on my lunch break i tested it and it went from 78.6 degrees to 83 degrees. im worried and lost. i dont know what to do. i can try the water and fan thing cause i needed to alter the air circulation in that thing anyways. i will try and test that out tonight and i will post the results. i wont need to start pinning and fruiting for another week anyways.

my little Stephy from Texas, why do you want so badly to use that plant-lamp? there is no reason to do so, believe me.
just use an ordinary lamp on top of the terrarium, it doesnt even have to be close. if u see the shrooms in there, then be sure that the shrooms have light
