How was it stored? If you kept it in a relatively cool place, it should be fine.

spore syringes will outlast prints if stored correctly.
Store in a clean ziplock bag in the fridge, it will stay viable for years.

i cant wait to start seeing some growth, thats why i wanted to hear some responses on here. i hope all goes well, and if/when i start to see growth ill repost to let you guys know, b/c its been probabably a year a quite a few months. so it may help someone in the future with the same question. although most of you probably dont save yours for over a year i got mine basically free, i traded some uh hem...oregano for it, so i didnt think much of it when i got it, i was just intrigued by the idea.

2 weeks now, and i see no growth i still have 5 ccs left and 4 more jars, so i guess ill go ahead and inoculate the rest of them, and see if theres any luck with those. im beginning to lose hope tho sucks b/c i finally got all the gear to do this shit, and now its not working. if this doesnt work, i need to get a spore syringe, so ill need a good site to do that with i live in NC so no laws against it here.

every time i work with old syringes - failure.
even a few months. stop wasting your time. if half of the syringe didn't work the rest won't either.

I was bored with SA and looking through my innocculation box for some goodies. Found a B+ syringe and used it without thinking, and everything went as usual... It wasn't until the jars were half colonized that I realized the syringe was from a grow I had done 3.5 years ago. I just used the last of it 5 days ago and I'm seeing dime sized colonies
I get the feeling spores are pretty hardy.
Also, I commonly use 1-2 year old prints with no adverse or noticeable affects.
Good luck! I hope you see something soon!

Spores are very hardy, as they are meant to last through various pressures, tempurtures, conditions and etc.

I heard somewhere that spores syringes, if kept in a Dry, Dark, Cool (DDC) environment, can last indefinitely!
Anyone agree or is this just flat out wrong?
Also, some girl told me that spores are the only thing on Earth that can survive in space (no gravity, no atmosphere, just a vacuum) and still grow into myclieum. I'm not sure if she's right, because she was pregnant had had no idea who the father was, so trusting her was a little sketchy.
Anyone want to correct me on that statement?
Although I've never had a spore syringe for 1 year and use it before, I recently used a 3.5 month old syringe I bought back in the beginning of January 2009, and wouldn't you know, every jar half-pint grain jar, 4 out of 4, grew bright, healthy mycelium with no containments! Horray!
Not sure what to do with it now. I think I'll do 2 jars with grain transfers, 1 jar with an 190-proof enthanol extraction, and the last I will case and fruit.
What you guys think?
Back to the question: bumtildeath, you should be fine as long as you kept the syringe in a dry, dark, cool environment as spores are intolerable to high-moisture and extreme temperature (not to cold! Do not freeze your spores! They will die!).
Good luck with the grow.
PS Is your name bumtildeath cause you like "bums" aka butts, "till you die"? Because I LOVE girls buns, even more than I love their breasts. Sure, girls buns don't have nipples on them like boobies do, but they are *almost* always big, round and totally jiggy!

Oh, I get it. So its more like "LeecherForLife". I usually thought of as a "bum" as a person who asks for "Spare change?" to every person who passes their cardboard box and wears dirty Army fatigues with big holes in them.
I'm guessing that's what you are? Or do you ask to "borrow" stuff without ever expecting to pay that stuff back that money you "borrowed"?
I remember those guys in high-school, always owed me money for all those chocolate milk cartons they bought with my "borrowed" money! Damn bums!

hah i left that behind in middle school, like i said i just never wanted to change my screen name
i always pay ppl back, infact i have lots of ppl who still owe me money, but ive come to terms with never getting any of that back
i actually acquired my pressure cooker from someone who owed me money
i worked at a place that had a lot of bums in front of it, and i actually cant stand bums anymore, especially the ones that CAN work, they just dont. mcdonalds is better than nothing. and no matter how many times i say no, they will continue asking everyday.

I don't see any green, but if there is trash it. You need gas exchange but you still need to prtotect from contams. Try putting a coffe filter or some polyfill over those holes. You need to cover it while allowing exchange

theres alot of moisture around the sides of this jar, but none of the others
does the creation of mycellium create beads of water all around your jar?

im seeing a small amount of growth in one of the other jars
so i guess that answers the question
ps. i had it in my car for 8 hours one summer day it prolly got really hot in there
so spore syringes are pretty viable, apparently
hopefully this other jar will do well

which is what the dry verm layer is for. Coffe filters will do nothing but filter large particles, since contaminants are 10x smaller than the holes in a coffee filter, they have no trouble getting trhough.
Pf jars dont need polyfill.
What alot of people dont realise is that if you put the foil back on after inoculation, your jars cant breath and the dry verm can become moist. You take the foil and and contams can then grow through the filter causing contamination.
during colinisation, it is normal for condensation to appear usually later on once mycelium ups the temps enough inside the jar enough to cause condensation to form on the colder surface of the jar
