quick contamination question...

I posted a picture of my problem in another post. It looks like a super dark green or a dark blue color. So i decided if that really is contams all my cakes are done for anyways so might as well experiment. So as sterile as i possibly could i dissected the darkest part of the blue/green and took it out of the terrarium. Behind the spot i removed were no signs of a deeper color. Just back the ther verm/mycelium look. That was a small relief. Then i heard if you touch contams with a sterile rag or something they will disappear. Didnt know if this was true so i just put the small piece in a rubbing alcohol/water mixture. It stayed the color it was. Does this mean that is was just brusing?

A cotton piece is soaked and rubed in the possible infected area. If it's a contam, their spores will get attached to the cotton piece.
I'm not really sure about what you did, nothing will disapear if you put it in something sterile, i think you got things wrong.

Well dark green usually means an exhausted cake or mold that can be treated with 3% hydrogen peroxide. Blue can also mean exhausted cake, but not near as bad green. I have an example of you want to PM me.
