Possibe Contam, Please Help! Pics!
    #10277049 - 05/03/09 07:14 AM (14 years, 10 months ago)

So, These BRF jars were knocked up 5 days ago, not sure exactly what it is, so any ideas as to what it may be, would be helpful.

Also, if it is a contam, can I remove it to hopefully save the cake?

Thanks.

Anyone know if I remove the contam, if the cakes could still survive?

I can't really tell because of the quality of the pics, but are they 100% colonized? If they are, then it could POSSIBLY be saved, but in all honesty, I wouldn't even risk it. because as you're removing the cake, breaking it, and ect...all those nasty contam spores will fly EVERYWHERE and most likely contam your current and future projects. I would definetly toss that one, and make more. Good luck.

Sorry about the picture quality, they are not fully colonized, the contam is growing with the myclium, while the rest of the cake is uncolonized.

Would it even be worth trying to remove the contam and save what's left?

Thanks

I see. No. you wouldn't save it, you would only release a bajillion contam spores all around your house to be waiting for your next project.

Throw that in a pot of boiling water for a half hour to kill all the gross stuff before you open it to dump it out

+1 on that advice! some contams we encounter in cultivation can be pretty damn nasty and harmful if not careful!

Yea do what he said. Dont ever open in inside your house just throw the entire jar out or boil it like he said. I had the same problem... Looks like bacteria
