Fuiting via PF Tek/ Is this an abort? w/ **pic**
    #10275040 - 05/02/09 07:57 PM (14 years, 11 months ago)

I have been fruiting 2 cakes of B+ (the ones that have fruit bodys) and 3 cakes of Treasure Coast.

They have been dunked and rolled/ in fruiting chamber for 7 days.

12 hours of light/ 12 hours of dark + occasional misting
Kept at 74-77*F 95%-99% RH

The first true fruit body has appeared to stop growing.  I do not remember if the color of the top was red like the rest (I believe it was).  My question is if this is an abort?  It is beginning to have a grayish cap.  If indeed this is an abort and I do pick, is there a way to conserve this without using desiccant?  Would consuming this one abort have any psychedelic effects?

Do these fruitbodys look normal?  Should I assume that there will be significant growth past this point?  Other pins are starting to show up within the last day or two.

My treasure coast has shown little to no signs of pin heads, I have a second batch of 7 cakes (approx 36 days incubation) ready to go, any tips on getting these to pin?  Cold shock?  Place in the light?

Here is the treasure coast next to the B+

Thanks

-PokerKing

The first one isn't necessarily an abort and if you eat just that, you probably won't feel it.

The two fruits below that look good. They should grow a lot more.

A few minutes of direct sunlight should take care of the non-pinning ones. More FAE might be beneficial as well.

just give it time, make sure you are getting that FAE and sometimes a lil sun can help (not direct tho)

Looks to me like the cakes are dry!

True, but an abort of that size is probably = 0.2g dry, even if it was 2x as potent as a normal mushroom it would barely be felt.

I had a few on my cakes that looked like that to begin with and none of them ended up being aborts. I just gave more FAE and they were fine.

You have no mention of fanning out your terrarium, you need to fan a few times daily after misting.

That mushroom in the first picture is a mutation.
