P. Subaeorginosa? In the UK?
    #10273954 - 05/02/09 03:41 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

Ok, check out these pics. I went hunting in the woods today, found some really interesting stuff. These first pics look like P. Subaeroginosa, but I was under the impression that wasn't endemic to the UK. I could be wrong though, anybody care to try identify them?
I also spied the last pic growing on old dead wood, they're about 5mm across and very bright. I would guess they're some sort of Amanita, can anyone else offer ideas?

No idea what they are, but they are not P. subaeruginosa...

Psathyrella species.  Maybe close to P. gracilis.

Not sure on the other species.

Hehe, thought it was too good to be true!

How about these then? Growing on old Sheep dung all alone in a pasture.

Probably Stropharia semiglobata.

Cheers Landsnorkler, that last sounds about right. Certainly looks  like the pics I can find online.
I'm fairly certain it's not a species of Psathyrella gracilis. Firstly, the gills are much finer and darker than the cap flesh.

I'm not certain it's P. gracilis but I do think it's a Psathyrella species.

That matches well with Psathyrella.  Their gills are often a dull purple-brown at maturity and closely spaced.
