Wow... "predictions are that by 2049 a $1000 computer will exceed the computational capabilities of the entire human species"
shits going fast

What does 'computational capabilities' really mean for humans? How can we measure our computational capabilities? and what are we computing?

Ive read somewhere that they calculated the computational ability of the human brain to be somewhere near 4 terabytes of information or something.
What are we computing? The matrix!

Im pretty sure it was not meaning to send that message. That was just the last fact.
My teacher showed me this today and told him they show it when he goes to conferences or some shit. I dunno, i just though it was interesting

What does downloading songs 'illegally' have to do with anything else in this vid.
They are showing us how everything speeds up and grows out of control and still they suffer from the delusion they can stop piracy.
Crazy fools!

The future is socialist and bright. Musicians are some of the most over-rated people in the world.
Not all, just the popular ones. Nobody works hard enough singing to earn $1 mil/year or more.

Actors, comedians, athletes, CEOs, business owners, lawyers, etc, etc. They're all the same: most people who fit those categories live on modest incomes, and the few at the top make far more than their work output deserves.
It's just an incentive of capitalism: work hard, climb the ladder, and one day you'll make barrels of cash; and you still won't consider it enough, because you'll compare yourself to your wealthy colleagues and superiors.
Well, at least that's the trap some people seem to fall into. None of us know what we'd do in that sort of situation.

Reminds me of Lilly's ketajourneys and meanderings with the solid state organisms described in his "the scientist". Perhaps he was onto something, just a bit too early. Perhaps he really was in 3001 for a while and our technology will no longer need us to survive. Respect the water!

The human brain's processing power is estimated at 10 petaflops (millions of billions of computations a second, I think...)
And we just broke 1 petaflop in a computer.

Can anyone tell me what we're computing and how it's measured? Seems important to the thread/idea
