been away on holiday, drinking way to much cider and munching little funny mushrooms.i get back and seen that one of my khat plants, its leaves have gone dark green almost redish/green it has been in its new pot for a 1 month now. it has new growth which is showing from past 4 days. but compared to its mate it looks different. so as this is my first time growing khat just wondering is it ok ? also when i got got i noticed that my ugly monster of a peyote now has two puping sites. almost happy i burnt it too a crisp now.

Is it getting enough light? might be a possible explanation.

Nice looking plants regardless. Though your soil does look to be Soaked. might wanna keep it a tad dryer.

I've seen lots of pics with red leaves, but I don;t know for sure if that's a vindication from all problems. BTW, red is often an indication of too much rather than too little light. Th eosil moisture looks fine IMO.

New growth is often reddish with khat. Its not a water issue. The leaves would wilt if it were. Basically, I don't have a clue. If you figure it out, let us know.

nah i wasn't saying the red was from the water. I was pointing out from what i thought, that khat prefers a dryer soil and not soaked just in general. Just what i heard on one of the african seed sites.

Khat is one of the most forgiving plants IMO. It will resist some flooding and lots of drought. Will tolerate severe negligence. As its a rugged african plant from the oasis areas.
I just give mine good and well drained soil and the biggest pot I can (my mother plant is a bonsai kinda).
