And Descartes taught us quite the contrary friend
"Through a process of methodological doubt, he withdraws completely from the senses. At any moment he could be dreaming, or his senses could be deceived either by God or by some evil demon, so he concludes that he cannot trust his senses about anything. Ultimately, however, he realizes that he cannot doubt his own existence. In order to doubt or to think, there must be someone doing the doubting or thinking. Deceived as he may be about other things, he cannot help but conclude that he exists"

Honestly Terence McKenna is a good man but he is overall to much into semantics and intelligence (book smarts) that just really freaks me out. He was on Joe Rogan podcast before and I like a lot of things he thinks but overall idk he just freaks me the fuck out. I like to get my philosophy from music or from people who aren't trying to be philosophers they are just acting emotionally kind of. I really like emotion

Which is why you won't see ol' Bernie on any ballot, except maybe as an independent. Not that I care.

Oh yea? Hadn't heard that before. I've heard Trump could run as independent. Crazy if they both were independent.

“There will be, in the next generation or so, a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude, and producing dictatorship without tears, so to speak, producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies, so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them, but will rather enjoy it, because they will be distracted from any desire to rebel by propaganda or brainwashing, or brainwashing enhanced by pharmacological methods. And this seems to be the final revolution” - Huxley

“Sometimes people hold a core belief that is very strong. When they are presented with evidence that works against that belief, the new evidence cannot be accepted. It would create a feeling that is extremely uncomfortable, called cognitive dissonance. And because it is so important to protect the core belief, they will rationalize, ignore and even deny anything that doesn't fit in with the core belief.”

"You go up to a man and you say, 'How are things going, Joe?' And he says, 'Oh fine, fine -- couldn't be better.' And you look into his eyes, and you see things really couldn't be much worse. When you get right down to it, everybody's having a perfectly lousy time of it, and I mean everybody. And the hell of it is, nothing seems to help much." --Kurt Vonnegut, from The Sirens of Titan
