Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe. Albert Einstein
I’m thinking about that quote almost every day. I’m actually a little scared because it seems people think things through less and less every day. Everything is evolving so fast. What will the future hold?

"The ugliest manifestations of racism, up to genocide, are reserved to immigrants who look, act and talk like us, the more they try to emulate and imitate us (the harder they attempt to belong) the more ferocious our rejection of them. In other words, We reserve our most virulent emotions: aggression, hatred, envy, towards those who resemble us the most. We feel threatened, not by the other, but by the "nearly we" who mirror and reflect us. The "nearly we" challenges our sense of uniqueness, perfection and superiority. These of course are the fundamentals of a narcissist's sense of self worth. (Narcissism of small differences, S. Freud). Someone who is very much like the narcissist provokes in him primitive narcissistic defenses and leads him to adopt desperate measures to protect, preserve and restore the appropriate balance where the narcissist has the upper hand and the newcomer is an inferior life-form." [Narc of small differences, Sam V.]

It behooves us to say, before all, that philosophy lies closer to poetry than to science. --Miguel de Unamuno

For more than fifty years I have maintained that mental illnesses are counterfeit diseases (‘nondiseases’), that coerced psychiatric relations are like coerced labor relations (‘slavery’) or coerced sexual relations (rape), and spent the better part of my professional life criticizing the concept of mental illness, objecting to the practices of involuntary-institutional psychiatry, and advocating the abolition of ‘psychiatric slavery’ and ‘psychiatric rape.’ DR THOMAS SZASZ

this is a fascinating take. i have had similar thoughts but it is a little too taboo to discuss properly with others so i have not been able to properly explore other opinions on it. i will be reading more of his work. thanks
